Default Help Painting Splitter

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking about getting the "poverty" front splitter painted the carbon flash black metallic to match the side skirts and spoiler instead of just the grainy plastic black. Anyone have a good estimated price I should be targeting for. I'm not experienced with external modifications to cars, especially a Vette, and I want to make sure I get it done right the first time without being overcharged. Is this something I can/should request the dealer to do to make sure it's done proper? Or maybe that's too far-fetched due to overpricing (stealership).

If you've had a part painted, how much did you pay for it?

Thanks,
Jayson

This will be about the best you can do price wise - need to have splitter painted - I was very happy with quality and certainly looks the part

I have a 2019 GS that came with the "poverty" splitter. So with that on the vehicle already I am looking to get it painted to match the 3/4 skirts and spoiler with the carbon flash black metallic paint. I'm trying to see if anyone has had any experience with paint shops or the dealer in getting a piece painted and how much they were charged.

Needs special prep because of the material, and will still be likely to get pitted. I would recommend you leave it just like it comes from GM.

Hey nosyaj,

If you decide to do it, you can do it yourself very easily.
* Go to Automotive Touch Up http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index.htm
* Find the Carbon Flash paint code (easiest for me was to find it under this link - it's the same code for our C7 cf stuff: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/tou...llac/2014/srx/
* Use Adhesion Promoter: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spr...-promoter.aspx
* Get Clear Coat: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spr...clearcoat.aspx

Remove your splitter (easy); thoroughly clean it to prep for painting; spray adhesion promoter per instructions; spray color per instructions; spray clear coat per instructions; let it dry; reinstall. EZPZ But.............

If you leave the surface of the 'poverty' splitter 'rough' like it comes, you aren't going to notice as much a difference as you might think. And it's a real pain to 'sand it smooth'.

I put a poverty splitter on our '15 Z51, painted it per above, and it looked nice. I installed one on my cousin's C7 without painting it, and you really don't notice the difference.

If you decide to do it, you can do it easily - not hard at all.

Based on my experience, I'd leave the splitter alone and upgrade something else.

Any decent body shop will paint parts for you - they do need a flex agent as they are plastic - link posted those parts are butter smooth they do not have a grain in them - have them base coated then clear coated

Cost ball park around 150$ or so

I appreciate the replies. Looks like I'm just going to put a plug on this project and maybe just buy the Z06 splitter some time down the road. Thanks again!
