How well does rev matching work 'on track'?
For the M7, how well does the rev matching work on the track?
*cough* for those who haven't quite mastered heel and toe, is the rev match
feature a suitable replacement?

The answers to your questions are "great" and "yes." In fact, regarding the second question, it's better than suitable.

Let's put it this way, Spring Mt. no longer teaches heel and toe because it is now completely unnecessary. Yes, it's fantastic, and gets the rev match right every time. You still have to manage a smooth clutch release and keep your foot off the throttle during rev match for best results.

It works great but you can't be lazy on the downshift. If you are slow to downshift the engine will lose its revs. I'm not saying slam it down, just be quick about it.

Watch a few of the YouTube track videos and you can hear the rev match working when drivers are downshifting. I used to have heel/toe downshift down cold but have pretty much forgotten how to do it. Rev Match just totally eliminates the need to heel/toe as it can do it better than a human can. If you hear people saying other wise you need to evaluate the truth in anything else they may say.
