Default Move on...nothin' to see here.

My 2016 Shark Grey M7 Stingray just passed 30K miles on the odometer. No problems. No issues. Normal maintenance. Wonderful car. Nothing to complain about. ...sorry.

Oh wait, the cup holder. But I'm working on that...

FWIW solved the cup holder issue on my September 2013 built Z51 and have a simple method that I also used on my Grand Sport. Holds a full water bottle in a 1+ "g" turn and agreesive stop.

These pics summarize. PDF available with full details of what didn't work as well!

Remove 3/32 rubber from bottom. Provides more depth and something to which to attach the divider. It just pulls out.

Use UV activated glue to attach insert to the bottom so it does not tilt and allow bottle to dump water.

Glue does not harden until light is on. Put on three fillets, one in gap, one below it and one on top. Allow one minute between passes.

I use this C7 logo bottle and felt to make snug. Note it is only the soft side of Velcro no matching part. Can also use just felt pads as needed.

While on the subject of cup holder, the lid on mine won't snap/lock in place. It was stuck in the closed position, and I used a little force to get it to open. Now it won't close. Any suggestions? Is it an easy fix?

Hmm, that is the OEM insert that comes with the car. It tilts as it is not secure but if you don’t have one you should.

My mod does not interfere with the lid closing and opening. Tollerences are tight with the OEM system. Not sure how you can tweak?

However a thought! Use my mod, get a bottle that fits, like the C7 logo bottle from the Corvette Museaum and keep water in it. Good for the system! Mine is always there so no need to close the lid! You will be healthier and have justification of it always being open.

Ah geez, now look what you've done. You had to go and mention the cupholder. This is a known "massive defect" on the C7 and causes perpetual angst.

Never had a problem with the cup holder. It works just fine. But then, I don't use these monster-sized cups some of you do. A "small coffee" from McDonalds works just fine. If you use 24 oz "Big Gulps" from 7/11, no wonder you have problems.

Guess I'd better check my cup holder. Never had a reason to do so before. If it doesn't work perfectly should I still keep my car?

Foosh, did you change your avatar?

I did. I think the old one has been around since 2004, but I was also gone from here for awhile.

I find the depth of the cup holder is too shallow. Just about any can or thermos tips over when I nail it or turn.

You should probably contact a good lawyer and research your local lemon laws immediately.

All is well. It was a faulty 02 sensor that took them a couple of days to find. Once they found it, the replacement took less than an hour. GM also told the dealer they've had an unusual number of 02 sensor problems with recent production cars.

Thanks for asking.

The problem is NOT just that the cup recess is shallow, the insert is not held securely! It is what causes the bottle to tilt in a hard stop. Happened after I made my C7 Logo bottle snug with felt pads and I thought that would be satisfactory - until I made a hard stop. The insert tilted, the bottle tipped and water all over! My solution not only increases the deptch 3/32 inches it secures the insert!

Soon after I got my Z51 in October 2013 found making my C7 logo bottle with felt pads was not enough. In a very hard stop the bottle full of water tipped over and spilled. The insert is NOT held securely. Tried several solutions and the latest works great!

Found a simple way to increase the depth 3/32 inches-just remove the rubber in the floor. It just pulls out. Than glued the plastic cup insert to the floor. No more tilting.

After 3 1/2 years in my Z51, also removed the 3/32 rubber from the floor and gluded the insert in my Grand Sport. One of my first mods. It's been in a year and has been though many high "g" turns. A full water bottle has held in my Grand Sport at 1.1+ "g!"

Cup holders? Is that what those holes are for? Hmmm. I thought they were to set my phone and sunglasses container.

I don’t drink in my cars unless I’m on a long road trip.
