I think it also works when both phone and camera are connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot so it might make sense to subscribe to OnStar's hotspot data plan.
Go to the website and read all the FAQs under the support button. That will answer many of the questions being asked here.

I wondered about that; however, I think Onstar's unlimited data plan is $20/month.

Can this camera display any data like the pdr can? More importantly, if you have occasional bad driving habits, can it be used against you since your videos are being stored by the company?

Thanks for posting. I've been looking for one.

I wonder which lte service they use (FAQ probably says) that may be a factor in some areas.

Okay I ordered one so we’ll see. 30 day money back guarantee tipped the decision.

Just ordered mine! ETA by May 5
By the way, can you rotate the camera when it's mounted? If you wanted to capture out either side of the door windows?

How is this an improvement over the Waylens camera (that will overlay OBD2 data) or the BlackVue 2 channel camera that offers Wi-Fi hotspot and cloud remote monitoring?
Both of the above listed cameras can be mounted up high, behind the mirror (and driver's field of view). The BlackVue has a separate rear cam that isn't recording a frontal view of the driver the entire time, and also has GPS and speed overlay. Also, unless you're pulling data from the OBD Port, it seems like a very un-appealing wiring scheme, to use it as a power source (although it makes for an easy installation)
The ultimate camera would combine the best features of all, providing GPS/OBD data overlay, remote monitoring, and front/rear cameras with a small footprint and low power consumption.

I have the Blackvue, hiding up in front of my mirror. It uses the slot in the window shading that the PDR would use if my '14 had come with the PDR. It is connected to my phone via wifi and I can see the video as it happens OR I can down load the video to my camera and view it later. No wires showing and actually I can't see the camera tucked up behind the mirror.
I have my V1 hanging directly under the mirror so the camera is pretty much invisible to the eye.
