Default My C7 LEMON

After 3 consecutive repairs due to reduced power mode and subsequent tow ins to a Chevrolet dealership in Cape Coral Florida I set out on a 1500 mile return trip to Canada from South West Florida with some trepidation. It was not long before my son and I felt a rumbling coming from the drive train and shifting that didn't feel smooth -and this is an A8 automatic. Also, we noticed blips in the tach as much as 200 RPM for no good reason. The ride felt as if we were on a minor rumble strip. This was periodic and would come and go at random but always return to become annoying and unnerving. An On Star call to the service department in the selling dealership in Oshawa Ontario provided nothing. We just soldiered on and thankfully arrived home without another breakdown. During the final mile, with a case of beer in the back, the bottles actually ratttled - that's how noticeable this problem had become.
This is my fourth Corvette and needless to say likely my last. I will be fighting an uphill battle to get GM to take back this lemon which ranks as the most disappointing vehicle in my life history of having owned 25 cars.
By the way, at the very top of that list was an 1987 Acura Legend and tied for last and worst was a Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Go figure!

What is your year and mileage? Were all repairs at the same dealership or did someone else also look at it?

From what I've read it sounds like a torque converter problem. Maybe your dealer wasn't very familiar with the problem and how to fix it. But others have had the problem repaired successfully.

Lacking a repair at another facility, you might have to consider any Lemon Law available in your area.

What year? Did you buy it new? How many miles on it?

Sad to hear, but assuming you live/bought this car in Florida (given your username), you are in the right state to pursue a lemon law claim.

The car is a 2016 Z51 Coupe - repairs done 3 times at the Chev dealer in cape Coral -Roger Deans. Now home in Canada mileage is close to 20000 KM or 1200 miles.

It is a 20016 Z51 Coupe bought new in 2016 from Ontario motor Sales. Mileage is 12000 - well within warranty but who needs this kind of aggravation.

Do you know the build date of your 2016?

I’m curious because I have the same model, same year with a build date of January 2016. I believe that some improvements were made in November of 2015 that resulted in a more reliable, trouble-free transmission.

I had an Audi which had to be towed 6 times in 2 years. Some of the same issues, some different. After the last tow it was gone forever.

I agree. I have a 2016 built in late November 2015 with 11k on on it. So far the A8 has been fine.

Perhaps you can tell build date through my VIN which is IGIYM2D7XG5124843 Likely built on a Friday afternoon.

I ran a Carfax on it and it says invalid VIN. You sure you typed it exactly right?

Take your car to a dealer who has replace torque converters. Usually most large chev dealers have replaced many TC's on 2015 and 2016 C7's. My 2015 had most of the same symptoms as yours and the problem was diagnosed as a bad torque converter. My TC was replaced at 10K miles. Since the TC was replaced, my car has been flawless.

Your numbers don't add up. You couldn't have bought the car new in Ontario, Canada, driven it to the State of Florida in the United States, and driven it back and only have 1,200 miles on it.

Also, I seem to recall you started complaining about this car in Florida, several months ago, but you apparently accomplished nothing during the intervening months with the State of Florida Chevrolet dealers in getting the problems solved.

Now, you're reposting with no details of the time spent in Florida, but complaining about it as if you've just discovered the problem.

Not saying you don't have a problem, just an odd chain of information not adding up.

There is a label on the outer edge of the driver’s side door...near the silver latch that lots of us use to close the door. It tells you the build date. There are actually two labels; the one below the silver latch has the build date info.
