Default Bypass convertible top interlock ?

Does anyone know how to bypass the interlock which prevents lowering the top with the panel in the trunk, which separates the top from the rest of the trunk, unlatched (down)? The interlock (or switch) is located on the passenger side of the trunk just below the top of the deck. If the panel is lowered (by unsnapping the panel and laying it down flat) a message appears on the dash that electrical top will not lower. I need to lower the top with that divider panel DOWN.
Thanks in advance for any advice on how to accomplish this seemingly simple task.

Just what are trying to do?

You could pull the partition out toward the rear and leave the passenger side grommet snapped in place. The partition doesn't need to be left snapped in on the bottom/floor.

Or order a replacement grommet and leave that snapped in?

Depress the switch and then cover with duct tape so that it stays depressed.

C7s don't use a conventional switch on the trunk partition. It's a hall effect switch which is magnetically activated to signal the BCM. You can't just use a jumper like on c6s.

The hall effect switch is also polar sensitive to the magnet.

Can you put that into English? I own both a C6 and a C7 Vert, and the switches behave exactly the same, so just how are they not connecting in the same way?

On a C6 you can see a push button where the divider attaches to the body on the passenger side.

C7s do not have the push button. There is a magnet inside the fabric, of the divider, in the area of snap fastener. you will feel it if you slide a screw driver along the fabric in the area of the snap. It activates a Hall effect switch mounted in the same position as the C6s push button switch.

At first I assumed the magnet just closed a regular reed switch, but when I placed a magnet near the switch I discovered that it was sensitive to the poles of the magnet, (one side of the magnet would activate the switch, but the other side would not.) This is a characteristic of a Hall effect switch.

Google, "Hall effect switch," It will give you a better explanation than I could.

Dang it! now I'm going to have to fiddle around, because they have always (13 years and 4 years, respectively) behaved exactly the same way on my C6 and C7.

I've never seen a "push button" on my C6, nor noticed lack thereof on my C7.

Old Yellow, thanks, that's the kind of accurate info I needed. My older vettes had the "button" but the C7 does not. I tried unbolting the bracket which has the "post" on it and saw the magnet which is connected by two wires. Jumping the wires doesn't work, so I knew there was something in the divider but knew not what. You gave me the info to proceed forward instead of sideways.
