Default Elkhart Lake Blue vs. Laguna Blue - Got GM folks to compare!

The nice folks here at the NCM walked the test panel over to a Laguna car for me. Elkhart is more purple to my eye; a little like real Admiral Blue from the C4 but not nearly as purple.

Geez... why did they bother? So extremely close to the same shade that even side by side it’s difficult to tell.

Looks like lighting and angle make more of a difference than the color itself. You could get away with calling the new blue "Laguna" and few people would notice.

Nice! Thanks to the folks at GM, that’s awesome.

Not it sure I like the new blue, though. Laguna Blue is perfect.

They are very similar... and the new gray is Cyber Gray with a new name to my eye. I somewhat offended the paint plant manager joking if they just slapped new names on Cyber and Laguna.

I was hoping for something closer to Nassau or Jetstream. Had it been those colors a new GS would have been a serious consideration.

I need a color spectrum analyzer to tell if these are "new" colors.

I agree. With my 68 year old eyes the "new" blue sure looks like the "old" Laguna Blue. I still love mine.

Elkhart Blue is just slightly darker than Laguna. I love it ! Thank God it's not some mash-up of 2 colors like some of the blues of the recent past .

Depends on the shadow and the angle in which one views the two colors. As I mentioned in another thread yesterday, I think it's cool that I already have the "new" blue Corvette color for 2019. I'm thinking GM realized they erred in eliminating Laguna Blue from their lineup in 2017 and are re-introducing it under another name.

Works for me.

Likely they wanted it as close to lb as possible but because of materials and the new shop, they can't or don't want the same name

Disagree. The new "gray" is actually a blue-gray and looks more like Night Race Blue than either of the older grays.

Both panels looked great - no orange peel and no "mottling". Even the silver looked great. Kudos to the BG paint shop crew and GM's capital investment in the new paint shop.

Cyber Grey has blue flake in it... didn't get to hold the new grey against any cyber, but it made Watkins take on a brownish hue.

They told me they robot sand all the smc now. The best paint on an orange still looks like an orange.... so they sand all the panels flat now.

I just can take my eyes off how clear the face reflections are. OP is finally gone!

Other than a custom painted car I have never seen a face reflection that clear on any Corvette. Using six robots to wet sand the panels and the new bell spray heads really did wonders!

They look the same. Marketing 101. Change the name. And, people will buy thinking they are getting the latest/greatest. Just ask Harlan......
