Not sure why my text didn’t post...but after much contemplation, I let my 16 year old drive my Z06 yesterday.
Before anyone freaks out, this was mad possible by her demonstration of excellent driving skills AND the Vitesse Motorsports Throttle control. With it in “Eco Mode” I was able to dial back the throttle response to a point that I knew she would have fun and that I would be comfortable with.
Like a typical teenage girl, she was somewhat non-chalant about it at first...until we pulled out in our neighborhood and she started giggling like a school girl (literally). We drove around for about 90 minutes and she didn’t want any to go home. Great memory for sure.

My 14 year old daughter says she is embarrassed when I pick her up from school driving my Vette. Apparently, it's because it gets too much attention from the boys.

NOW you did it, Dad...guess what she will be asking for as a graduation gift?

I would totally loan my Z06 to my 16-year-old daughter and yet not to my son. And my insurance company would happily provide the statistics to back that choice up! (OK, I'd loan it for prom or whatever, but not for joyriding).
Why? Because the girl won't be medically required by her DNA to determine how fast the car can go within the first hour!
Nonetheless, in my house nobody drives anything that they haven't changed oil in (except my wife, she gets a pass on that one). So first you get dirty, then you go to prom in it!

I think that's awesome!!
I let my 19 year old daughter drive my 2008 Z06 at TWS several times turning 2:05's and a best of 2:02 flat. However, she did put it in the wall coming out of 15. Car was fixed and then Harvey came along, submerged under 5 and a half feet of water.

Good man!
When I went back into Corvettes in 1990... I drove it home, asked which of my twin 16-year-old sons wanted to drive it first? Then took each one out for about an hour and a half drive. Great memories...

Funny, because my 13 year old daughter feels the same way for the EXACT same reasons. The 16 year old doesn't seek the attention, but doesn't mind it.
