It doesn't - DOT regs and most states that require a plate are required to be a minimum of 18" off the ground - the C7 aeroplate is like 17.25" (+/- depending upon car height).

That is not the areoplate - it is the DOT plate holder - they are not interchangeable, so you can just relocate it.

Here is California the "front" plate does not have a minimum height restriction...

"...The rear license plate shall be mounted not less than 12 inches nor more than 60 inches from the ground, and the front license plate shall be mounted not more than 60 inches from the ground..."

California Vehicle Code 5201

Both the STO N SHO and Aeroplate front plate mounts would be acceptable for use in CA....

No. It's affixed through the grille screen, just as the GM furnished black plastic Aero plate mount bracket is. That one should be removed, IMO. It pretty easy to do. Just unscrew it.

I put in on the wall in my garage with the other plates I didn't install.
When stopped and asked where my front plate is I show them the picture, I got a warning ticket once.

But that video has a Colorado plate and not mounting one at all doesn't seem to be an issue here.

Sorry Foosh I had to.

Alls you need is a drill/bit, and a large Phillips head screwdriver. Is that your Laguna Blue C7 hatchback? What year/model is that?

Are there any ways to keep a front plate from looking crappy? Pictures?

Any luck running without a front plate (for a long time) in a state that requires it?

I live in Illinois and the front plate is mandatory. I never have gotten pulled over for no front plate. I did get a couple of tickets while the cars were parked for no front plate. I used double sided tape and took a picture of the car with the plate taped to the front and didn't pay for the tickets. I have to add that I live in Chicago and the cops here don't have time to pull someone over for not having a plate.

Default Front plates

Here's something you guys are overlooking: say you're in a parking lot and witness the cold-blooded murder of another person; the perp hops in his Corvette and BACKS rapidly away from the scene of the crime. And when the cops ask you if you got a look at the plates, your only answer is, "No, I don't like front license plates because they really make the front of car look shitty."

Just think about it for a minute .... it could happen.

Can someone please tell me what makes a Corvette so different from any other car that running a front plate "ruins the look of the car"?
Just never understood the logic here. Or is it just hard heads bucking authority? I just don't see what the big deal is...

Makes camaro look bad too. Most cars lines aren't designed for front plate.

If you look at the C1’s they had a front bracket that looked like bumper guards. They looked good.
One of the first thing I saw when the C7 was coming out was the Aero Plate. I was disappointed when it wasn’t painted Carbon Flash, so I painted it. It looks like it’s supposed to be there.

I live in the same area as FOOSH so I can attest to how brutal LE is in regards to running a front plate. I hate the look of a front plate but even more, I hate getting pulled over so I came up with a decent solution.
Running the removable plate but added a body color frame. It's on while I'm driving, it's off hanging with friends at a cruise-in or at a show. Goes on and off in 2 seconds.

Front tags not required in most SE States (believe VA only exception)

Go to ZIP and get the removable plate holder. Takes less then a minute to place on and under 10 seconds to remove. Most LEOs will allow you to correct the missing plate when you explain, ie, "I was just at a car show and forgot to put it back on."

I got this from ZL1 Addons. It's dual purpose license plate holder/tow hook. My 2014 didn't have the built in tow hook mount, so it did require drilling into the bumper. I like it because it solved me from getting those stupid front plate tickets and I now have a tow hook point for when I track.
