I'm in Chicago burbs too. Bought my C6 used & it had a bracket. Went to many car meets & I think I was the only guy running a front plate. No way I was putting one on the Z that I just got. Got detoured because of a running race recently and had to drive slowly past many cops. They didn't say anything.
Congrats! They won't...one time when I was pulled over and the officer mentioned the lack of a front plate. I apologized and he actually said something to the effect of, "If I had one of these, I wouldn't have one either"
It is the law, and we are running the risk of getting the ticket by breaking it, but (knock on wood) I've come out ahead so far!
You have completely misunderstood my comments. I understand full well that's it's not enforced in most places. I'd prefer not to have the front plate either, otherwise I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of purchasing a bracket that I can take on and off in 2 seconds.
What is annoying is the "don't do it" folks who seem to think just because it's not an issue for them, it's not for anyone else.
I would prefer not to mount a license plate on my soon to arrive 2019 GS, but unfortunately in Oregon it is mandatory....
Are there any ways to keep a front plate from looking crappy? Pictures?
Any luck running without a front plate (for a long time) in a state that requires it?
If you use the factory CORVETTE grill mount, drill holes for the plate...then carefully bend the plate to fit it looks nice. I would love to go with no plate but I never do anything to invite getting stopped. Imagine if you go to dinner and have 1 glass of wine...get stopped for no front plate...well...you know the rest! Not worth the aggravation.
I just wanted to say that I predicted the groundhog day nature of this thread back in post #3. The two camps on this issue are never going to agree so I'm not sure there is much more to say.
I will just add that I find the pic of the "LIVE FREE OR DIE" license plate motto contrasted with the "put this plate on your car so we can track your every movement with cameras" hilarious.

I just used the one that came with the car and bent the plate to fit. I don’t really like it, but I figure its one less excuse to give the cops to pull me over....
If you have to run one, there’s a frame that snaps in and out no mounting hardware. They’re all ugly but at least you can take it off whenever you want.
in Iowa front plate is required, ran my camaro ss (bright yellow too) 4 years not one problem. told my son no front plate on the c7 until i get 2 tickets for it. been 6 months and 4300 miles.

Didn't read all the comments so if this is redundant, sorry. I'm in Texas and it's required but many friends are LEO's and as they say, I don't fit the profile so they won't pull me over for just no front plate. Haven't had a plate on my GS for a year, no issues. After two tickets I might think about it. 😎

New Hampshire "Live Free of Die" But only if you do it our way!
Colorado requires a front plate. I haven’t had one on my C7 or previous C6. Not one stop or ticket in many years and lots of miles. I’m willing to pay an occasional ticket instead of putting an ugly plate on the front.
