Warning - Be Careful Installing MGW Shifter
Just to be clear - the shifter is amazing. I had one in my C6 and loved it. Wanted it right away for the C7 - couldn't tolerate the vague slopping OEM unit.
Problem is with the instructions (videos from MGW), in the video about disassembling the console in the C7 it is suggested that you remove the side leather trim piece starting at the front. Well, I followed the instruction and carefully pulled the trim piece at the front and broke the lower console piece. I found that the front connection to the lower console is not a spring clip but a plastic hook clip with the opening to the hook facing forward. If you pull out it does not decouple from the lower console and could break the plastic - it did for me. Better solution is to pull gently in the center and work your way toward the back and then forward until the front most spring clip is free and pull back on the trim piece to release it.
I tried JB Weld to mend the plastic and it did not bond to this type of plastic. After that failure I used a combination of Plastic Adhesive and Gorilla tape - fingers are crossed on this repair.
Another issue was the releasing the shifter boot from the shifter **** - there is small tang on the top of the groove where the posts on the shifter boot ring are held. To release the shifter boot, first lift up and then rotate counter clockwise to release the boot from the ****.
What does MGW recommend to do with the rubber boot that sits directly under the leather shifter boot? I first installed it "as is" but found it was too tight under the boot because the vibration dampener is much larger than the OEM unit. I later trimmed it down to just above the vibration dampener.
When tightening the grub screws securing the mounting screws I dropped the 1/8 in allen wrench down into the torque tube area and then had to remove the shifter to get it out. When reinstalling, I filled these gaps with some bubble wrap until I was finished to prevent having to fish it out.
Lastly, for such a high quality product, I think MGW should organize their website to have all of the relevant YouTube videos with links or maybe make a comprehensive install video for the C7 since the OEM insulation around the Torque Tube is different from the C6.

I thought I saw a revision on MGW video saying to remove the side trim from the rear... Oh, well, I did mine without the video anyway when I installed my Hurst shifter from my C5.
This shifter is also good and has retro look..
For those that missed it..

MGW revises their video on removing the side trim piece.
You don’t reuse the top rubber piece. Just toss it. It’s redundant. The dynamat and insulating foam reduce mechanical noise and block heat from the torque tube better than how it was stock, so no need for the rubber piece on top.
Yea, MGW should recompile the instructions.

Sorry to hear you ran into problems. Whenever I am doing a modification myself I do searches on the forum and read after install tips from everyone. It saved me a mess with the thermostat change (I decided not to due to failures).
Anyway, I installed my MGW Shifter last September and ran into no issues following the install instructions. It is an amazing shifter worth every penny. I bought mine during the labor day sale and paid standard price for the flat stick. I would imagine Memorial Day sales will be coming for those looking for a discount.

I read in an earlier thread that the MGW shifter sits slightly higher than stock. Even when reusing the stock ****. Is that true? Does the shifter height change?

I agree the C7 shifter is pretty good. However I believe a short throw shifter is one of those subtle mods that you don't realize how nice it is until you do it. I believe I saw someone measure the 3-4 shift is about 1 1/8" shorter. I'm ordering one Monday.

I'm not a fan of the retro ball or handles shifters on the C7 so I'm sticking with the OEM shift ****.
