It was a pretty ugly day as the Corvettes were never really in the race. The Porsche 912 and BMW 25 were pure slot cars. The podium finish for the #3 Corvette adds to the points and I have no idea why the #4 Corvette was never in the mix, starting with practice times.
There was some great racing towards the end as the #3 cut thru the 3 Fords, almost looked like NASCAR stuff with all the bumping and pushing.
The Porsche's are way strong this year. The BMW's are finding their groove.

I was at Mid-Ohio and it was a beautiful day: huge crowds and great weather.
I'm not sure why our Corvette Racing Team couldn't get to the front, but the 3rd place finish (podium) satisfied me (ahead of the Fords).
Before the race, the pits were open to the general public, and it was cool to get a closeup view of all of the cars. They are awesome!
And I absolutely love the sound of the Corvette Racing engine: a deep, low, menacing growl.

I couldn't get there - arrggghhhh!
My son and I arrived at the track around 9:30 am. We purchased our general admission tickets ($60 each); then I asked for an infield parking pass ($30). The woman went to get the pass, returned a few minutes later, and told us that the infield was "sold out."
Very disappointing. I guess I could have prepaid for out tickets and the infield pass, but the uncertainty of our Central Ohio Spring weather caused me to hold off. Who would have figured that we could not take our Vette to the infield?
Anyway, once we parked outside the track and walked to the infield, I found the Corvette Corral. Lots of nice cars there (although no really old ones), and . . . . . there were several spaces where we could have parked our Vette. So . . . . . was the infield really sold out? There were plenty of other places around the infield where we could have parked as well. I don't know why they closed it - maybe it lessens the traffic leaving the track after the race. Regardless, I sure wanted to park with my brothers and sisters in the Corvette Corral, and was upset that - if the woman would have sold me a pass and let me in - I could have parked there.
Besides that, it was a fantastic day!
GO BUCKS!
