Default Roof storage in trunk just ain't right...

This is my 4th Vette and don't recall ever seeing this when I remove the top and store it inside the car.

When I try to seat the roof panel on the 2 pins at the back of the roof should nestle in just nicely, adding extra security. The problem is the 2 pins won't "seat" properly and I noticed a friction abrasion on the roof when I removed it and secured it back onto the roof.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine “seats” perfectly with no friction abrasion. It simply snaps into place, and no part of my roof, aside from the fastening hardware, is touching anything. I’d have the dealership look at it... or perhaps post a pic of the problem for better advice.

It does sound like you are properly putting the top in the trunk. The painted top surface should all be exposed. The top does not go under the bracket. It snaps into it. If the top is on the front bracket properly, the pins will easily snap into place in the back.

You need to force the corners down to lock into position.

Here’s an installation, removal, and storage vid that might help:

Great. Thanks man! I've done this numerous times on my other cars, this one not so much. After looking at the video, I'll give another try.

Make sure you don't re-seat the rear latch after you remove the roof. If it is in what would be the latched position when you go to put it in the storage mounts it will interfere with the rear tub's trim and thus won't seat properly. Not saying it's your case, just that I've seen it happen.

It should snap in with some force.

I noticed some abrasion on my top after I had it a few months. I thought it was from putting it in the holder in back or putting it back on top but there is no way it can rub in the holder and even though it looks like it is tight against the interior trim when installed on top there is actually a gap so I believe it came from the factory this way and I just failed to notice at first.
