I drive by cars all the time that used to with my Redline detect and now with my R3 do not.
Make sure K POP is off, K Filter is on, and if you don't mind a bit of K-Band delay turn on TSF. I also run K in Wide and Ka in Narrow and Ka POP on (although you can turn this off).
Also you need to use Q-Ride and enable it at 15 or 20 MPH because if you're going that slow no need to have X and K bands blurping up all the time.
Many radar detector forums, but this one has a good article on the options: https://www.vortexradar.com/2017/06/...den-r1-and-r3/

Does your detector interfere with the sound of that left speaker in the dash because it is almost sitting on top of it?
Does your velcro hold the detector firmly in place or does it bounce around a bit while you drive?

After having one mounted near the mirror for years, I moved to this location. I like the easy access to adjust or mute. As mentioned earlier in the thread, wiring to rear fuse box is also really simple.

Uniden R3. Seems to work very well. I really like the database with the red light cameras plus the ability to set "user marks" for the mobile flashy cam trucks - which we have a lot of here in Scottsdale/PV area.
The only downside is that once you set a user mark, the only way to "clear" a mark is to delete all of the user marks at once.

I just got my R3 last week and have already taken it on a road trip and used it around my little suburban city. It’s been pretty awesome. I installed the latest firmware and I was shocked how few false alerts I got on K band on the freeway and amazed at how far away I was getting Ka Band warnings. I got multiple warnings at 2 miles or greater.
I run my R3 while using WAZE and I love that app, but that is only useful if someone ahead of you is using it too. Or the unfortunate occurrence of the police officer taking up a trap position right after a fellow Wazer has gone through the area so they didn’t see them.

You're not using it right if you get the blind spot detectors going off.

R3 saved my bacon (again) yesterday.
You have to be REALLY careful driving thru small Texas towns as ticket revenue is a major player in the local government budget. Highway speeds drop from 70 > 35 in a very short distance, and as you all know the felt difference between 50 and 35 in the Vette is very small. Waze isn't much help here as there isn't a lot of traffic.
Anyway, in this case the R3 (KA band) lit up about a mile outside of town so I was hyper aware of my speed and had to stare at the speedo to keep it at 35. Sure enough, there was a LEO hiding behind a gas station sign. I'm putting along while an Accord passes me at ~45 (which feels very slow for a highway) and promptly gets lit up.
The moral of this story is that while I don't usually "speed", the R3 saved me from a literal speed trap.I don't leave home without it.

Hi.Guys,
It's time for a new Radar Detector purchase.
So without those who want to start with saying go plow through the 5 million old threads on this, can we please have a nice discussion from Corvette Forum Members who actually have, and frequently use, a Radar Detector / Radar Locator, that you really like, who have tried other brands, and have found one you like better than the others, and describe why please...
Many Thanks!

agree, CB radio, radar detected, flashing headlights, and Waze
seriously though, I have an older Escort Passport 8500 and the number of false hits I get (vs good hits) is about 4:1

It might be time for an upgrade. My Escort 9500ix picks up a lot of false hits too from BSM etc...from other cars. Though it will remain in my truck. I bought an R3 for the Vette 2 week ago, first Uniden I've owned, but so far I'm really happy with it. I just tried it out last night for the first time & it saved me from a big ticket so I have no complaints.

I've had a V1 for over 10 years but lost faith in radar detectors about a year ago here in Arizona. On a trip from Phoenix to Laughlin I got a speeding ticket and the cop used the old fashion method, stop watch using the mile markers. He had me clocked at the exact speed I was going which was 83 in a 65. Maybe need to go back to the CB radio days- 10-4 good buddy there's a smoky up ahead!!

This would also depend on what you consider "better" If you considered arrows better then only V1 but I consider better to be a long range radar that works over 2 miles out

Technology marches on.
I am use to a V1, upgraded to latest edition, but there is a new detector
that also has a dash camera option.
V1 could use a modernization perhaps.
My rant, if police can use technology so should civilians. I want my stealth paint,
jammers, eg invisibility to traffic ticket/ tax technology, only seems fair. Then there
is the false alarms from lane departure systems etc mentioned above. These system
must be on the same frequencies as ticket radar? No good, jam 'em all! Rant over.

Hmm?
My radar detector is 100% fool proof. I drive the speed limit. So there is that.

He saw me braking hard coming towards him. My Valentine One didn't go off until AFTER I'd braked, so I knew he was lying.
No way to prove it. What judge in the world would believe me. All I could do was be grateful he didn't write me for more. Truth is I was doing like 83.
Threw the radar detector and cord under the seat as soon as I saw him flip a bitch. Detectors are considered "Proof of Intent" in the eyes of the law.
He was hiding BEHIND an 18 wheeler coming towards me. I braked hard the instant I spotted him, THEN the V-1 went off.
In retrospect I should have asked to see the reading on his radar gun, and recorded whatever excuse he offered for not being willing to show me. Useless in court but at least I would have caught him in his lie... although it's probably best not to make them mad...
Holcomb Justice of the Peace: And how exactly do you claim to know when he clocked you, Mr Nelson? Me: Aahh, Err...
Remember. When they're using Instant-On, you've GOT to let a "jackrabbit" or "linebacker" run ahead of you. Even if you keep your eyes peeled.
I'm now consistently doing 5 mph over the limit on my commute across I-40. It's only 5-8 mph slower than I'd like to go, and they'll almost never pull you over for "only" 5 over. Gas mileage goes way up, fewer fuel stops, arrive only minutes later.
Yeah, a sprint now and then is fun, but my previous ticket has cost me well over $2000 with the increase in insurance premiums. Not worth it.
As far as the V-1, I'm getting a lot of false alerts from the blind spot radar on 2017/2018 Hondas. Perhaps Valentine can perform an upgrade as it correctly ignores most others.

Just a reminder if the police are using a standby switch, which most do, you will be caught on his radar at the same time your radar detector picks up the signal. Of course there will be times when a standby switch isn’t being used but in most cases it will be used when running radar.
