It's time for a new radar detector purchase

A smart Arizona Highway Patrolman recently wrote me for 73 in a 65. The fact is he didn't get me with his radar AS HE CLAIMED but with his eyeballs.
He saw me braking hard coming towards him. My Valentine One didn't go off until AFTER I'd braked, so I knew he was lying.
No way to prove it. What judge in the world would believe me. All I could do was be grateful he didn't write me for more. Truth is I was doing like 83.
Threw the radar detector and cord under the seat as soon as I saw him flip a bitch. Detectors are considered "Proof of Intent" in the eyes of the law.
He was hiding BEHIND an 18 wheeler coming towards me. I braked hard the instant I spotted him, THEN the V-1 went off.
In retrospect I should have asked to see the reading on his radar gun, and recorded whatever excuse he offered for not being willing to show me. Useless in court but at least I would have caught him in his lie... although it's probably best not to make them mad...
Holcomb Justice of the Peace: And how exactly do you claim to know when he clocked you, Mr Nelson? Me: Aahh, Err...
Remember. When they're using Instant-On, you've GOT to let a "jackrabbit" or "linebacker" run ahead of you. Even if you keep your eyes peeled.
I'm now consistently doing 5 mph over the limit on my commute across I-40. It's only 5-8 mph slower than I'd like to go, and they'll almost never pull you over for "only" 5 over. Gas mileage goes way up, fewer fuel stops, arrive only minutes later.
Yeah, a sprint now and then is fun, but my previous ticket has cost me well over $2000 with the increase in insurance premiums. Not worth it.
As far as the V-1, I'm getting a lot of false alerts from the blind spot radar on 2017/2018 Hondas. Perhaps Valentine can perform an upgrade as it correctly ignores most others.

Anytime I've gotten a ticket I just take a defensive driving course at this place: https://www.idrivesafely.com/defensi.../record-combo/ which is only $45 for TX (course + copy of your driving record). These courses have been offered online for about 15 years now (no more sitting in a classroom all day bored out of your mind) & presto no points on your license, just the fee for the ticket & the course. Though defensive driving can only be taken every 2 years so if you're racking up multiple tickets in less than 2 years then it's not going to help.
The price is $49.95 for Arizona https://www.idrivesafely.com/defensive-driving/arizona/

If you would contact V1 on their website and put in your serial number they will let you know about the update and how much. I had mine done about 1 and1/2 years ago and works great. Speed slowly.

Cop made the most of it by parking 50 yards from where the speed limit increases by 10mph....
If you'll call GEICO and let them know there's no justification for that sort of increase I'd be most appreciative. Let me give you my policy #......
The latest citation, in Arizona, I indeed "worked off" via online driving school. But I, err, my wallet, can't risk a 3rd.

My previous ticket was for +20 over and was in Colorado, where drivers school isn't an option. Appx $250 for the ticket itself, and an addition of appx $300 to my insurance every six months for three years. That's $2050.

Yeah, it looks like you can't take the class voluntarily in Colorado just to keep points off your license, only if ordered by the court to do so. https://www.idrivesafely.com/traffic-school/colorado/
If you’ve received a traffic ticket in Colorado and a court order to complete a defensive driving class, I Drive Safely’s online traffic school offers the simplest and easiest way to dismiss your ticket!
- Study from any computer
- Work only when it’s convenient for you
- Save time & money – no driving to a classroom
- Self-paced for easy, stress-free ticket dismissal

Interesting news for the habitual speeders. Apparently the second fastest Manhattan to Redondo beach record was recently set by a C7 Corvette.
29 hours and 48 minutes.
An amazingly fast run.

Wow. So it may not be familiar, but in Kalifornia - you know the state you guys in the states where you have more space than people and lower costs - I am actually innocent until proven guilty. I have a court date, and before than the opportunity to motion for process than may get me to a not-guilty or dismissal. Which works if you focus on it about 75% of the time.

I have to admit - despite being a devotee to the Escort Passport 9500ix when I owned my C6 and having transferred it to my '14 Z51, I recently bought a Uniden R3 (based on the glowing reviews both here and elsewhere) for $299 and sold the Passport on FleaBay for WAY more than it should have sold for!
So far, the R3 has exceeded my expectations!

Love my R3 so will definitely give this one a try. Not to excited about it being bigger though. I like the blendmount so smaller the better.

I like arrows, but not going to upgrade from my R3 just for the arrows. The other new features are very minor.

What kind of power plug does the R3 use? Size? I'm thinking of changing out my very old V1 for the R7 when it goes on the market. I'll have to re-engineer the mounting under my mirror but I'll figure it out.
