Default Why is my insurance so high, LOL....

2019 stingray 2LT
33 single, no accidents/tickets in last 5 years. I live N Atlanta in the suburbs 30044

$500 deductible
Geico $240/month
State Farm $275/month

If i set my deductible at $1000, its $20 cheaper. Is it better to stop by an agent instead of doing the online quotes?

If you qualify for USAA, give them a shot.

I’m 20, single, male, driving a 2018 2LT stingray with a clean record, and I pay ~$170/mo

Very strange you’re getting such high quotes.

Are you still under your parent's policy?

Where you live and where you drive plays a role, and 33 is still one of those high risk ages with a sports car.

I’m definitely on a separate policy, and pay for it myself obviously. I can’t see my parents policy on their account, nor can they see mine on theirs, so the accounts are separate. Perhaps a “clean record throughout the family” discount is applied, but that’s honestly not super likely.

That's awesome. Reston ( NOVA) is not a low cost area to insure.

Is this your DD?

Sounds like NJ rates. When I read that some people with newer C7's are paying in a year what I pay in 3 months...makes me want to move.

I’m in Virginia, for further comparison.

I would think that 33 is way better than 20, when it comes to “risky ages” for insurers. It’s very likely something else.

Maybe Georgia just adds more, or it’s another mystery factor

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking! Reston isn’t by any means cheap, in any respect, sadly.

It is my DD, but changing estimated mileage for my policy doesn’t have much impact on the cost, so it shouldn’t matter for insurance.

The biggest factor, in my experience, is dedutable. I’ve got a $500 deductible. OP mentioned this too, and it has similar affect on my price (+/- $30/mo, for each increment I can select).

Wow if I didn't think your comment was a joke I could take it as unnecessarily insulting and condescending. I assume you don’t know who USAA insurance covers, which is generally US military members and their families, giving them a very unique pool of customers, likely impacting their rates significantly.

I average $170 a month per car with Allstate in North Central NJ.

It wasn't a joke, It was a simple, serious question to a 20 yr.old. Him being on his parent's policy or alone can make a difference, even if he is listed as the sole driver.

BTW, I've been covered by USAA for 35 years. I guess I could take your comment as condescending and a joke, too, but I won't read into it unnecessarily.

I would guess it’s age and location. I love Geico. My stats for comparison:

Car: 2015 Z51
Age: 34 perfect record, etc.
location: House w/ garage in Kansas
Bodily Injury: $250,000/500,000
Property Damage: $100,000
Colission: $500
Comprehinsive: $500
Cost: $136.70 per month.

Call your local AAA office and ask about insuring through the various companies they represent. We saved $900 a year over State Farm bundled home and auto.

The insurance industry underwriting stats show that under 40 is still relatively high risk in sports cars, and living in a major metro area makes it worse.
