Cleaning my C7 exhaust tips
Before pic:
First, I cleaned it with soapy water and a scrubbie to remove any loose soot and dirt.
Then, on my cordless drill, using this sponge tip (amazon: http://a.co/7lENBkg ):
I cleaned it with some "White Diamond" polish and cleaner (amazon: http://a.co/eq57uAS ):
Then, using this tip (amazon: http://a.co/0bRSnO7 ):
I polished it with some "Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish" (amazon: http://a.co/5PQq9ZA ):
After about 10 minutes of work, it looks sooo much better. Pic:

^^^ That's my method too! Although since I do it a couple of times a week ever since the car was new, they still looks shiny.

Certainly better than when I bought the car (used). I'm amazed at how little work it required
Yeah, I always used to do the cloth and soap, but it just got worse and worse until I just gave up and figured I'd get new black exhaust tips one day.
Yeah, the fact that I got them shined up like that without breaking a sweat makes me super happy to have stumbled upon this stuff. Of course, I only did it with two cones and two compounds because of how dirty it was. If not so dirty, just using one of the steps may be sufficient.
I might start doing this, keeps them clean a bit longer. Though, 10 minutes with the drill is pretty easy.
Cool, thanks for sharing.

Threads like these have been inspirational so the other day I gave this a try.
I did have one question. It is hard to tell from the pic but there we a few small black specs in the tips that did not come off with polishing. Any "tips" on getting stuff like that off?

Out of time/lazy?
Ol' hotrodder trick, get a can of Easy-Off oven cleaner.
Spray on warm tips, top of pipes too.
Let sit a few minutes, rinse & dry.
They'll look like a lot of time was spent polishing.

I just give them a wipe with a damp paper towel and they still look like new.

The black specs "leftover" I'm told is burned gas residue??? Comes out extremley hot and sticks. I use Mothers Paste and a "powerball" thing. Only have 6,000 miles so it can't be just me.
