Default Looks Very Tempting...

Love my current paid off '14 C7 Z51 vert.
Only 18K miles & have extended warranty out to 2021.
Planning on trading her in for C8 in '20 or '21.

However, been seeing some great deals on '17 Z06 verts at $20 - $22K off, brings low 100's MSRP down to $80 - $82K.
Current trade in value of $42K.

So I'm looking at:
Positives: Brand new C7, new factory warranty, 190 more HP
Negatives: $40K diff + TTL, but only 3 yrs newer & '19s are already out, same body style, will miss my Night Race Blue & Kalahari interior since most now are black/black, which is damn hot in Texas.

Thoughts...?

Go for it. Then, by the time the '17 Z06 is paid off, the kinks will have been worked out of the C8, and the prices of the C8 will be discounted (presumably). YOLO...

I say go for it. It's way more car for the money. I'd personally wait until the second or third model year on the C8 as it's a completely new model. I got my 17 Z06 last August and my only regret is not getting it sooner.

I am also tempted to trade in my 15 base 3LT vert for a Z06. However, with the impending arrival of the C8 in a year or 2, I am going to hold off till I see what the C8 looks like. I find it somewhat analogous to getting a C6 427 or Z06 in 2012 and seeing the C7 in 2013 and regretting it. If I don't like the C8, I am sure I can pick up a Z06 at even a cheaper price.

SilverGhost just sent me another deal that's over $23K off.

Even more tempting now...

There are two 2019 ZO6 hatchbacks both M7s on the lot @ Huber Chevrolet in Omaha, NE. Both are marked with discounts (like $10K) on their windshields. These cars aren't moving, and I'm guessing there's tons of other ZO6es brand new that aren't moving off the lots fast either. Huber Chev. had NO other new C7s. The ZO6es are both M7s - perhaps that's why they're still sitting there.

My advice - buy one.

I say hold out. Then in early 2020, when you go to trade for the C8, contact me because you have the color combo I want, but I'm waiting until late 2019/early 2020 to buy.

Do it now and enjoy it now versus waiting for the unknown.

Heres a thought though maybe not a popular one. Get the Z06 and enjoy it for now. Now if the C8 should bomb out then any C7 will worth that much more

UPDATE:

I did it.
Traded in my beloved 2014 C7 Z51 Vert, got $44K for it, better than the $42K I was expected.
But didn't get the 2017 Z06 Vert.
Got a 2017 Jaguar F-type R Vert instead.

Was a minute away from finalizing the deal to getting my 3rd Vette, but the Chevy dealer sales tactics really blew it. I got credit union check in hand, also got dealer's GM financing approved to get the $1000 discount. Although dealer's website plastered $20,000 off on all leftover 2017 Z06's, they only honored $18K off, including $1500 GM credit card credit. Since I didn't have GM cc, no go. Wouldn't give me even $40K for my trade in. So no deal. Can't stand Chevy dealers' sales practices.

My wife loved the Jaguar F type convertible's styling & upscale luxury. Jaguar sales manager gave me a rock bottom pricing of $26,500 off $113,500 msrp for a 550 hp V8 R-type convertible, & gave me $44K for my trade in. Easy deal.
So although I didn't get the big jump from 460 to 650 hp of the Z06, I got halfway there at 550. The Jag's 2 seater is heavier, but still sporty enough for me.

Maybe this Jag may still be worth something when I'll trade it in for mid-engine C8 in a few yrs...

I wouldn't have spent that kind of money on a Jag, but whatever makes you happy.

I did it and could not be any happier with my decision and I went from a 2014 Z51 Vert to a 2017 Z06 Vert last year.

Congrats. on making the right deal on a vehicle that met your wants and needs...............

more about what is right for you, then what other's may think......

see quite a few Jag's here in the Motor City area........ in the affluent suburbs known as Grosse Pointe or Birmingham.........

A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Life's short, and if no ones going to go hungry get the Z car. The C8 will come out, and if you want one of those you can trade the Z for one. You can't take it with you my friend.
