Jay Leno says a Targa is JUST AS GOOD as a convertible on a c7. He would never lie. Move the video to 14:40 and watch

I got a chuckle when he said you could go to Home Depot and bring home 2X4s! Recall putting a blanket over the rear bumper and on the front console and using a bungee cord to hold the hatch down! When we were having our current home built I did some minor work, installed a wired alarm system, speakers in most every room and patio, rough finishing the room over the three car garage etc. I brought 8 foot 2X4s in my ‘93 to the construction site. My ‘88, ‘93, C6, 2014 Z51, and now Grand Sport are DD’s. Recall the wife had an XJ6 Jag at the time, useless for carrying 8 foot 2X4s!
Recently (when the wife needed her SUV) had to buy and deliver a lockable mailbox and post for the contractor rebuilding the dam for our Lake (to keep DHEC required records.) Measured and could fit a 5 1/2 foot 4x4 post in the Grand Sport. Bought the box and had Lowes cut a post to that length and just using a towel over the console, it fit with the hatched closed! When I delivered it to the contractor I referred to my “Grand Sport Pickup!”

I bought a coupe over a convertible for a few reasons.
1. I already have a convertible for another car.
2. I have literally always wanted a targa too but as the decades have gone on getting a true targa got more and more difficult. Basically only Corvette remained until the new Porsche Targa showed up a couple years ago. However, that Porsche is double the cost heading towards 150k well optioned.
3. I’m not a fan of the way soft top convertibles look with the top up. And where I live it’s almost ALWAYS too hot for the top to be down, or too cold. Probably 15-20 days a year it’s good for.
I think it all just depends on what you want. If you want a drop top, buy it. As far as I’ve heard I don’t think there are any major flaws with the convertible, it just comes down to preference.

Coupe from any generation of Vette looks sleek and like a sports car. A Vert reminds me of a Miata. Enjoy your Miata's!

Now don't be so hard on the guy. It's not polite to make fun of folks with perceptual disabilities.

My last Corvette was a beautiful Torch Red C6 Grand Sport convertible. Both Chevy and myself replaced just about every mechanical part that was part of the convertible mechanism. Some parts more than once. I even had to have the fiberglass on the tonneau cover repaired because a faulty part took a large bite out of the fiberglass. I loved that GS convertible but because of the continuous mechanical problems with the top, I now have a coupe and most likely will never go back to a vert. I do remove my targa top on my coupe a lot, but admittedly, it’s not the same or as enjoyable as having a “drop-top.” I think that mine was a rare case but if not and others had bad soft top experience, that could account for some of the coupes over vert sales.

I think others have said this but I feel like the C7 needs a FRC. That hatch always has **** sliding everywhere but not so with the Vert. Yes the hatch is massive and is great for picking up groceries or even TVs and Christmas trees (ask me how I know). But the Vert is fun, cheap, and nothing threatens to fly through the windshield or hit you in the back of the head while driving.

As a girl, I'm not sure if I should keep laughing, or have mr.owc6, who's a Marine, come and kick his *** for saying it's a girly car.
I have no idea where that concept came from, so I'll just keep laughing.
