Why Do C7 Coupes Out Sell Verts By Big Margin?

Our last Vette was for my wife, a C6 vert. It was nice but my only vert of the many Vettes we have had. The new GS is a coupe mainly because I like the way the coupe looks in the C7 over the vert with the top up. I have a feeling though we will end up with a his and hers because she is talking about getting rid of her Lexus and going Vette again. I have no doubt it will be a convertible. Truth is, I like them both. I saw several Verts at the bash and they all looked good to me. As has been said on here, get what YOU want, you cannot go wrong either way.

You either like the top down experience or you don't. For me, there is nothing like taking a drive on an 80+ degree day down a road with lots of twists, the music blaring and the top down with the wind blowing through my hair. In my opinion, if you don't have a vert you are missing the TOTAL vette experience. A ride with the top down during a summer night is absolutely priceless.

Well now, the three pedals part we can agree on.
Some of my favorite post that never come up are:
vert vs coupe
stick vs auto
black vs chrome rims.
I know that I am new to the forum, but do you folks think I will be able to see more of these?

Several of each all the time, with the same people saying the same things over and over and over.

You forgot a few topics: RF vs nRFs, Wax vs coating, Front plate vs no front place, etc...

Buy what you really want, regardless of what others buy. Cost is a difference of course, but the ability to take the targa off along with the added cargo capacity makes a coupe more attractive to some buyers.

What is this wind deflector of which you speak and where do you get one? I have had the top off my coupe exactly once in two and a half years because I do not care for the buffeting.
To date, I have had four Vettes and only one was a vert. Really enjoyed that car and it was almost always top down if temps were over 60 or so. It is an open feeling the coupe cannot come close to matching, but as some here have mentioned, does leave you quite exposed. And at my age, that is probably not such a good thing. Also, when considering my C7 purchase I was thinking I might someday want to do an HDPE which pretty much takes the vert off the table.
Buy what you will enjoy most. For my two cents, the main advantage to the coupe is the "trackability" and the vert is the open air "classic" sports car image and "cruisability".

With wind deflector I mean as in the attached picture.

I've used the wind deflector on other convertibles, but haven't seen the need in the C7. The rear deck is high enough, and I sit low enough that I don't experience any buffeting from behind even at legal interstate speeds. It's more a problem on convertibles w/ back seats.

First there are many more coupes because GM builds a lot more and sells a lot more. If the convertible were in high demand they would make more. I never give the convertible a second look. I do know they weigh more and there are some compromises . Same way with some colors. Different strokes for different folks.

Convertibles look more similiar in profile with the previous generations...the c7 coupe is quite different...
Both beautiful in coupe and convertible design...but the c7coupe screams from a profile shot that it’s very much different than earlier generations...
When the c8 releases it ll really be quite different...from the c7
Should be quite the interweb forum debate...
I remember the tail light change over gave many corvette enthusiasts strokes...
This next gen release in the next year or sho should have rioting in the streets..

Chevrolet dealers order more hatchbacks, because they're an easier sell. It doesn't help convertible sales at a cost factor $5,000.00 +/- above the hatchback..
Same with auto transmissions, even though the M7 (manual transmission) is a couple grand less $.
Dealers buy what's the easiest sell, in most cases.

Probably fewer if you consider the flip ups when they were flipped up. Flipped down or a C6 (or a C7) you would just kind of bounce off the smooth surface.

In the early years the Vert was a lower cost vehicle than the coupe and people who were looking to buy a Vette for the beach or to tour would purchase a Vert with the base engine and a 4 speed tranny. They sold a hell of a lot of those cars from 63 through about 1970. When I was looking to purchase my first Vette in the early 70s it was hard to find a used Coupe especially one that had a BB engine. Then people stopped buying verts and they discontinued them after the 75 or 76 model year. Then due to hue and cry they brought them back in 86 but the price for the vert was now higher than the price for the coupe. I suspect price has a lot to do with how many verts vs coupes are purchased.
