Default V4-V8-V4 Eco Mode

Is it normal to feel a shuddering whenever it cuts back to V4? Any long term issues? It just doesn't feel right.. and always end up in touring mode.

I have a 17 GS and I don't feel the shudder you are talking about. I can feel the power pick up when it goes back to V8 but there is nothing to indicate when it goes to V4. I never even notice it unless I look at the gauge. Might want to have that looked at.

I feel a thunk when the car goes into V4 mode. I have a 1025 Z51 M7 and I attribute it to the manual transmission.I had a 2017 Camaro SS with an A8 and I never felt the transition. I assume that the automatic is much better at masking the transmission into V4.

It's actually so annoying in my 2015 Z51 that I never use Eco mode unless I'm on the highway in 7th gear.

Quick fix. Take it to your Chevy dealer and have them do a triple flush.

I vote they do away with it just like the new ZR1

Probably. If you have a m7 then you have been blessed with the ability to disable v4 mode by simply setting the drive mode to tour, sport or track. Set it to tour or sport and forget it.

Does not sound normal. Visit the dealer.

I've noticed a slight shutter at times while in ECO in my '18 M7 when it cuts back to V4 which I suspect is more pronounced with manual transmissions during mixed driving conditions..I find ECO mode is best used for hwy cruising speeds where is does operate very smoothly...That said, I'm really not impressed with ECO mode and not convinced it saves that much on gas anyways so I pretty much stay in Touring mode...

I am one of the old farts that I bought a V8 & I want it to run in V8, so since I have a M7 Z, it never sees ECO mode of any kind, & I still average 21 mpg per tank of gas.

I have a 14 M7 Z51 and mine also has a slight shudder when it goes into V4. It usually seems worse in high gear going up hill at a lower rpm. The fix I found was just to leave it in your mode

Sure, why not! Just add a $3000 gas guzzler tax to the price and you'll be good to go.

I have a '17 GS M7 and most of the time feel a slight shudder when it drops into V4 but not when it goes back to V8. A friend has a M8 and it does not have a shudder either way.

From the other posts, it sounds like M7s are more likely to have the shudder than A8s.

Like others, I only use it when on a highway causing for a long distance.

At just the right time (when transitioning from V4 to V8, and shifting to a lower gear) my '16 would shudder a little. I didn't like that so I fixed that with a Range V4 disabling unit. Now it's smooth, and stays in V8 mode all the time. Well worth the money IMHO.

I drive in Eco Mode most of the time on the street. My M7 Z06 doesn't have any shudder when it switches from V8 to V4 or from V4 to V8. I have the exhaust set in track mode and the only way I know it switches is when the exhaust gets quieter or louder. Running at engine between 1000 and 1500 rpm in V4 mode the exhaust is quiet and in V8 mode it is loud. I imagine if I put the exhaust into Stealth Mode I might know when it switched.

I think it is normal, but I don't feel it when cutting back to v4...I only feel it when it reverts to V8. My 2016 LT1 M7 does it and the only time I really notice it is when I am on cruise control in hilly areas, which is why I only use ECO mode on long flat roads when I am not doing much passing.

I've used the option a few times and have fwiw felt the shudder or thump with my M7 2018 Z51. I'm thinking it's fairly normal.

It would be worth it. It costs that much for parts and labor to replace all the factory hardware (garbage) with a DOD delete kit.

You should really go hardcore and not use any of the overdrive gears like (5th, 6th, or 7th). I bet you could get your average mpg into the mid teens.

So on any other model other than the ZR1 and ZO6 you are saying that AFM avoids the gas guzzler tax .... Please show me where that is written....

Is more like tGM is contributing to the "Corp. FUEL ECONOMY " rating not the individual car ...
