Why wait? The C7 is an amazing car and the deals are just getting better and better on new ones so why deny yourself of a great car? You don't want a C8 as soon as it comes out anyways, there will be no discounts at all and the first year or two could have teething problems anyways.

I agree, and personally wouldn't make any decisions based on information from articles that primary purpose is to sell advertisement.

Buy a C7 if you like a long front end and the great view from the windshield because that will be gone with a mid engine C8 and its shorter front end.

I agree with the statements above:

1. The C8 will be MSRP or higher for at least2 years.
2. The LT1 is proven, so how many years before the 5.5 Ltr.
3. How many will they manufacture the first and second years?

Buy a C-7 now, save your money for the FRONT Engine C8 which will probably come out around two years after the mid-engine C-8.

So far all responders have given good advice. The only thing I would add is the C7 you buy now should be a convertible manual shift because we won't be seeing one of those puppies for quite some time if ever.

if the C8 is coming very soon I would wait. Unless no manual then it is no C8 for me..I am manual only guy. Nothing like having the new model. I always trade when a new design comes up. But no manual. ?? If its true but we don't really know yet, then for me bye bye corvette.

Personally, I wouldn't make any decision based on a website whose only source of info is Car & Driver magazine. Mid-engine Vettes have been rumored for decades, and C&D has been at the forefront of those rumors and predictions; they haven't been right yet.

As for first year teething problems, the 2014 C7 has been more reliable and trouble free than later years, so there goes that conventional wisdom out the window.

The 2014s seem to have a bigger problem with the infotainment system than other years, and I wouldn't exactly say the 2014 is MORE reliable than newer years, factoring out the A8 issues.

I think all the evidence points to the 2014 being at LEAST as reliable as later years. (I don't believe the infotainment screen 'issue' is limited to the 2014, so that can't be a year "x" vs. year "y" factor.)

Depends. You have to weigh it out for yourself. Information about the C8 is now piling up. Should be an easy decision for anyone to compare going forward.

Live is short, don't wait if you really like the C7. I look at the C6 now and it still looks very nice and current to me so I think the C7 will do just as well or better in terms of longevity in the looks department.

Unless you are waiting for the new engines which may come out 1 or 2 years into the ME life, the LT1 is just the same engine mounted in the back and tuned to higher HP. But if you wait for the new engines, you are looking at around 3 years from now maybe, or more. And that's if you are willing to buy a brand new engine and platform from GM day one.

If you don't have any real preference for the C7 but just want the latest and greatest, then look at other brands that have new sports cars coming out or wait for the C8. I believe the new 911 will be coming out in 2020 as well.

Waiting for the unknown versus driving a C7 now does not sound like a tough decision.

Life is short. And, without the guarantee of tomorrow I say get a C7 now, then trade it for a C8.
