This is somthing that is so useful to me that I could see buying a car that has this feature just because it has this feature.

The story made a non-techie like me think that a future update to the phone will be all that is needed, if your car already supports Car Play like I think our 2017 does.

Looking for further explanation...

This made my day. Excellent. I'm even going to try the iOS 12 beta just for this.

Someone went to the trouble and expense to upgrade an earlier C7 to a Car Play capable unit.

My 2016 has it, but I've never used it, because Waze is more valuable to me than any feature Car Play offered.

I don't know if an update to Waze will be required for it to function with the new Car Play...if so, hopefully it comes soon.

Waze has been on the Android Car play for a while... but it never connects on my car. So annoying. Google Maps works just fine.... but Waze just goes into "thinking" mode and never displays a route.

Interesting. I recently had to delete the app and download a newer version because mine wouldn't display the base map. All works fine now, though time will tell how stable the interface is with CarPlay.

Fingers crossed. Good to see Apple finally admit they don't always have the best solution.

I recently purchased the iPhoneX, and the navigation and Siri upgrades to iOS 11.3 is significant. The Siri voice has better vocals and the navigation has significant upgrades to the maps. I don't use the car Navigation system at all.

The CarPlay app on the car is updated via the phone OS. So for those that were asking, if your car supports CarPlay today, when your phone is upgraded to the new IOS then your car will be as well and you will get this feature. Pretty simple upgrade.

This was true a year or two ago, but now I actually have ditched Waze and use Apple Maps. It has make HUGE leaps in the last year.

I'm pretty sure Waze scared them, but they rose to the challenge, and now I use Maps over Waze.

The irony is that like everyone else I spent a year or two wishing for Waze on Carplay and by the time they finally did it, Apple had caught up!

There is. I have a '14 and did it. There are several various posts on this forum about doing this. You may lose some functions if yours is a Z51, but you have to decide if you can live without them. Here are 2 of these postings:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...l-for-nav.html

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-your-hmi.html

The first one is my experience and the second is a more recent one that explains what you might lose if you take the plunge.

Sounds interesting and I will give it a try. For years I went with Navigon as it was one of the apps that stored all the maps the phone. Now Navigon is gone... so I have been using Apple Maps. As mentioned before, Apple has REALLY improved this over the years.

No there isn't. Not without screwing up the PDR and backup camera.

Or, if you believe I'm wrong and this actually can be done, how about a more useful post than "There is"?

Also very good news here is that IOS 12 will be compatible with all iPhones beginning with the 5s, and is supposed to make them 40-70% faster on many apps. Apple says it will be released in September.

I didn't like Waze on AA but I guess it must be better than Apple Maps. One thing that I didn't like was that the route overview sucked. It didn't show the route at all, nor the traffic really, just a line of silly icons representing traffic and cops but giving you no indication of where exactly along the route they were!

I'm on the Waze beta program and on the phone the route preview works fine. It just doesn't work that way on the big screen.

I have other gripes. I'll just stay with Google's Maps.

One thing I wonder is who will be behind the voice instructions in Waze on CP? On AA it's tied into the Google Assistant which has the best voice recognition and most usefulness. But if you have to use Siri on CP that'd really suck.
