Track mode A8 dash lights question
When configured to track style display with the hockey stick tach there are several dots a the top of the display. I have found nothing about them but I think they indicate when traction is being lost and how severe it is. Can someone confirm or correct me?

I will have to look better. I was driving in regular automatic track mode and did not notice the lights at all for the longest time until I got on it a bit - then they lit up progressively when there was wheel slip - did not light up when there was no wheel slip and driving somewhat hard.

As C5 Tom told you they are designed to help you time your shifts when you are in manual mode although in my cynical view they are more for marketing, like the fairly useless Z06 boost gauge, instead of being of major help.
In lower gears in particular engine RPM climbs quickly at full throttle and the lights are a reminder/timing assist to help you upshift at the proper point rather than having the engine hit the rev limiter with consequent loss of acceleration.
They have no relationship to the amount of wheel slip other than wheel slip and the rapidly closing light dots are both an outcome of a wide open throttle.

The other post is absolutely correct, even on an automatic. They are shift indicator lights.
