Default Drive-through car wash and dropping the C7

Right now I'm able to take my C7 ZO6 through the drive-thru carwash. The tracks are almost 13 in wide so I'm doing so without any damage whatsoever. The guy told me today that if I drop the car it wouldn't fit. I'm assuming he's just guessing. He was talking about how low the splitter is and how low the rocker panels are. I was thinking about dropping the car on stock bolts which probably doesn't even lower than an inch or around an inch. The wheel gap on these cars are pretty bad, but at the same time I don't want to lose an hour of daylight washing the car every other week. I rather enjoy the car driving it or enjoy other things in life then washing my car for an hour. I work a lot and try to enjoy my life outside of work. I figured it would take me about an hour to wash the car thoroughly by hand, and I just really don't want to do that. It goes in Monday for an alignment at a great shop with a great owner, and was scheduled for being dropped and now I'm second-guessing the dropping. I might just have to just get the alignment and not drop it.

I'd leave the height alone. Sure it will look a little better dropped, but it sounds like you would definitely regret not having the option to run it through the wash bay anymore.

yeah you're right I think I better not drop it

My GTI is pretty low and it fits but, I don't have rocker panels and that low splitter on my GTI

Option C, buy an electric pressure washer/foam cannon ($150) and wash it better than an automatic wash with the perk of not scratching the fug out of the finish. Takes no more than 30 min for a quick job.

Check out the review below, it explains it better than I could. Really easy (and fun) to use.

I second the foam cannon method. It’s a blast. I wash my car almost every weekend just because I enjoy it so much.

Rinse. Foam. Rinse. Dry.

The owners manual says not to use drive thru car washes. Not sure why but I'll stick to hand washes.

It says that because of the rear wheels are too wide but if you go through one that has wide tracks you're okay

I use both the car wash during the winter and when I can't wash at home.. I also use the Foam cannon and a wooly mamoth drying towel and it works great..

I've only used the waterless washes by hand since I got my Corvette, following the instructions by a poster named Glenn E, takes very little time (much less than the time to drive to a car wash and waiting for it to be done), and is literally "no cost" because I've only used 1/4 of the optimum no-rinse washing solution bottle in a year.

Automatic car washers use soap that will etch your glass after awhile. Plus among other things ..Just my 2 cents worth . I use them for my truck .

Thats more work than a non-cannon hand wash! No thanks.

Drop it looks way better - find touch-less car wash - no rails - you drive in - it does its thing pull out and they dry it - what I do

Even non lowered I cant get my car into any car wash with rails - not happening

Just choose the right car wash: Touchless and trackless. There are no brushes to touch your finish and no tracks for the tires. It's just a flat concrete slab like a garage. I've got the foam canon with the special soap and an Air Force Master Blaster, but that turns into quite a production of time and effort, plus you can't take it with you on the road.

I also use Glen’s procedures, weekly rinseless wash is a 30 minutes job and no risk of damaging the paint! Learned a lot from Glen at Camaro forum.
