Removing paint from wheel barrels
Has anyone removed the paint from the wheel barrels? if so how? I have some spots on the barrels of my Z06 wheels that the paint has came off and it appears to be chrome under the paint. TIA

I painted the wheel barrels gloss black.
Hides the dirt and sets off the chrome against a black hole. Also easier to clean because it smooths the rough surface slightly.

Just use good old aircraft stripper, get it all soupy and the grey paint comes right off.

Personally, I wouldn't put any paint in the barrel, nothing cleans easier than chrome, looks excellent looking thru the wheel and very hard to see any brake dust or road dust accumulation. The surface is not rough. If you put black paint back there you will see brake dust and road dust accumulate but I am **** like that. I can take a pic of my wheel if you so desire.

Most good auto parts stores have aircraft paint stripper. If you are close to a automotive paint store, they have there own heavy duty brushable strippers. If you can get a quart, its enough for 4 wheels. I can help when you get ready to do it if needed.
