Default Grand Sport PDR problem

I recently purchased a 2018 grand sport with only 18,000 miles on it in excellent condition and have put on a mere 200 miles in the last month. Recently when I viewed the PDR a note came up saying “Insert SD disc to proceed”. I had never removed or put it in the SD disc since I’ve owned it. So don’t know what prompted this on my info screen. I was able to pull up the PDR screen and all its functions before but now it appears to not recognize the disc. I have since removed the SD card and replaced it with no improvement. The same message comes up “insert SD card to proceed”. Any idea why!?

Make sure the card isn't in the "locked" position.

THE KEY IS A FORMATTED FAT32 CARD. Most people make the mistake of too big a memory card.

Make sure the disk is not full. 32 gb is about 11 hr of recording. Each file is limited in size to 90 min or so.

I am using a 64G Sandisk 80ms SD. Yes, I formatted for Fat32.
I believe I had a problem using the WIndows, Properties, Format-Option.
I used a 'Command' Window. Press the Windows-Flag Key + R, type 'cmd'.
My laptop had a SD card slot. You may have to use a USB to SD adapter.
Insert the SD, mine showed the SD as Drive: D
In the CMD window, type Format D: /FS:FAT32
( change D: to the correct drive-Id)
Follow instructions.

The above suggestions are good.

Also make sure the contacts on the card are clean. An easy way to clean them is with a pencil eraser.

Even if you have the switch on the side properly set it is easy to push the switch to read-only when inserting the SD so be careful when you insert it.

It sounds from your description like it was working fine and then stopped working. I suspect the card slot isn't making good electrical contact with the SD card. A lot of times the card will not seat properly in the card slot. Make sure the electrical contacts on the card are wet with an electronics cleaner and then insert the card and wiggle it around. If any dirt/corrosion is on the contacts inside the slot that might help clean them off.

I hate to revive an old thread but I'm having trouble with my PDR. I don't use it that often, a year actually since I used it last but when I tried it over the weekend I get the "SD Card not inserted error".

I still had the San Disk Class 10 32gb card inserted I had used previously and I tried removing it and inserting it several times with no luck and yes the switch is in the unlock position. I tried cleaning the contacts on the card with a pencil eraser, blowing out the slot and spraying the card contacts with contact cleaner all without success.

The funny thing is I can plug the card into my desktop and it works fine, I can see and play all the videos from the last time I used it. It was only half full but I copied the files off and reformatted the card and still no luck.

I'm beginning to think there is a connection problem to the card slot or maybe the card slot is bad? I'll get a new card and try that as well. Any suggestions?

I agree. It sounds like a loose/shorted wire or a bad SD card connector. However, don't forget the other end of the circuit. There could be a bad connector that plugs into the PDR module or something wrong with the module itself. Check all of the connections. Connections are where most electronic failures occur.

The only way my PDR has ever worked is with a 32gb SD card. Anything bigger has never worked.

Well as an update I bought a new sandisk 32gb class 10 SD card and my PDR doesn't recognize that one either. Anyone have an idea on where to start checking connections?

I have a 128 Gig card in mine formatted FAT 32. Works fine. You need a download like this to use a card larger than 32 Gigs.
