Apparently the wave is dead..
1-11-2 yesterday
1 wave response (from a C5)
11 no waves, from 1 C4, 4 C6, 6 C7 (one C7Z driver looked at me like I was crazy)
2 couldn't tell due to speed. Both C6s
Also the most Corvettes I've ever seen in a single day (about an 80 mile drive through the countryside).
Ended the day at a regular Sunday evening cruise-in near me, I was the only C7 in attendance this week.
Picture sent me by one of my friends from last night

Weird, they pretty much all wave back here 'round Seattle. Except for the red Enzo (I know it's you, Greg) that I always accidentally wave at from too far away (I see the Enzo about as often as a Torch Red Z). Not many Zs here.
Sometimes Vettes wave even back when I forget that I'm driving something else!
Doesn't sound like you're waiting for them to initiate either, which is weird. I'm usually pretty confident in the wave return!

Forget the wave...
Why do Corvette owners drive so stupid?
Following a JackAzz from Indiana in a 45MPH zone along the Nantahala river, we saw massive speeds up to but not beyond 30MPH... Down to 15MPH.
US74 is a highway. Are there not rivers in Indiana?
Why not set the Cruise control and hold the speed.
This went on for ten miles until they turned into a tourist trap. Jerks!
It was like driving behind a group of Corvettes on Deal's Gap.

I would at least modify that to add the word "some."
The last time I drove this particular circuit I got stuck in a caravan doing from 10-15 MPH under the limit. As cars would pass in the short passing areas available I eventually worked myself to the point where I could see the culprit causing the backup.
Much to my chagrin it was the stereotype reinforcing elderly Corvette driver in a C6 vert, putt putting along and oblivious to the traffic backup. (an I'm no spring chicken, either)

The wave appears to be dead in San Diego.

The wave has been replaced with the "V"....I have had 2 people flash me the "V" sign last week - thought it strange and a tad gay - but whatever - acknowledgment to another vette was accomplished

I only see another one every week or two but so far i have been lucky in that we each wave to each other. So the wave is not dead in southeastern mass apparently

It's doing fine here in the south. But, everybody waves at you in the south.

It's not as important that THEY wave as it is that YOU do.
Like so many things in life, we can only control what *we* do; how others choose to react is beyond our control.
I get probably a 50% return on waves here in Las Vegas. I just choose to think that perhaps they are new to the Corvette world, and if enough OTHER Corvette drivers wave at them, they might get the message that it's a thing!

I hand out flyers when we have drives with our group and make sure everyone gets a copy of the "Corvette Wave". Whether they read it or not is another story.
We had 34 cars on my last drive and out of that 5 did not know anything about it, the rest al said they try to wave at all Corvettes and their drivers as we go bye.

My first car was a 1986 Monte Carlo SS...every 1980's Monte Carlo owner waved to me.
2nd car was a 2000 Monte Carlo SS...no waves...IMO, the front of the car didn't stick out enough for people to instantly recognize it.
3rd car was a 2003 Monte Carlo SS...no waves...see above.
4th car was a 2006 Monte Carlo SS...no waves...see above....I'm assuming everyone is seeing a pattern here.
5th car was a 2012 Camaro SS convertible...all Camaro owners were waving.
6th car is a 2019 Z51 convertible...hardly any other Corvette owners wave.
