I agree on the 99% likelihood, but avanti is correct in that whomever is that official inspector will be the determining factor in this. To my way of thinking, it must have hit just right to deploy an airbag, which is a lifesaver. Tell us how it turns out for you and good luck.

Whew, thanks everyone. Just got confirmation that it is indeed NOT totaled, about 5K in damage, but I'm glad despite the airbag deployment it should ultimately be ok.
Cheers!

Hey folks,
Been a while since I've been on here, too busy planning a wedding and driving the GS - this was my baby (as I'm sure they are for us all).
This past Friday I got in an accident, my fault (my first real accident), and rear-ended another vehicle with minimal damage to them, nothing too bad for me, but the airbag deployed.
I am still waiting to hear back from insurance company, but do you all think this is totaled? I keep hearing Corvettes total easily if the airbag deployed. I don't believe there is any structural damage and it seems to need a new front end and the rest cosmetic.
Any insights or comfort are greatly appreciated.
Cheers friends,
N

reminds me of when i was a kid and my father took out a 6 point buck with a 68 impalas front end. The state trooper came up and saw my father as pretty upset- he looked at my father and said "they make new chevys everyday" and then pointed at my mother and me and said "they don't make new them" I was maybe 11 and remember it like it was yesterday

From your pic looks repairable. GM composite parts are not that expensive and fit fine.
However if welding is required on the frame, likely as there are "made to crush" parts on the chassis- be sure the body shop is certified to do aluminum frame repair. You have to ask. Chevy, BMW, Mercedes (as well as others with aluminum frame parts) required the shop to be certified as do insurance companies.
The extruded aluminum crush parts are welded to the aluminum castings. The proper Pulsed MIG Welder and GM defined procedures must be used. GM certifies shops to repair weld aluminum frames.

The post above shows the crush zones (#1 in the diagram above) which is where the airbag sensors are located. The lack of extensive damage on the nose likely means those crush parts absorbed much of the impact energy, which triggered the airbag(s), and will need to be replaced.
That's what I was talking about in post #4.

I have a 2017 C7 same colour, just turned 15,000 km. Deer hit the front of my car last Saturday evening. I have even less damage but air bags also went off. I was wondering the same thing.
PS. The deer did not make it! Damn thing stopped right in front of the car!

Have the airbag control module but it needs to be reprogramed. Fixed a pdrevious similar wreck. Just the air bag replacement and related seat belts etc is around $9Gs

Thanks brother, I appreciate it. Absolutely, besides some bruising and a small cut on my knee, no physical damage to me or the other driver, and her car barely got a ding. Agreed, it must have just been the perfect angle.
I'll keep you all posted. Hoping for the best.
Much appreciated,
