Default My grown son's former bedroom

is now my Corvette Room with 'bout 100 plus smaller die cast, a bunch of 1/18 Vettes plus some metal signs, Corvette Clock and Corvette lamp...it's a major reason why I'll stay in the Vette clan because what would I do with all that Vette toys?

Looks like there are a few on ebay in the $300-400 range as well, if you do a search on there.

Yep....have a few. I'd guess these curio cabinets represent about 20% of what I have collected over the years.....way too many! The "excess" are stuffed in a walk in closet now....but, expect to have new display opportunities in the new house and hobby garage we are almost done building.

I have a pretty good collection of 1/18 road race cars, mostly prototypes like Porsche 962, Jaguar XJR9, Peugeot 908, Audi R18, Mercedes C9, and a lot of GT cars, Owens-Corning Corvette, '63 Grand Sport, Greenwood Corvette, the C5R that Dale and Dale Jr. drove in the Daytona 24, C6r GT1 and GT2, and C7R, Viper GTSR, Aston Martin DBR, Ferrari 550 GT, Ford GT, plus Can Am cars like Porsche 917/30 and McLaren M8. I have a few street cars also, looking for a C7 ZO6 like the one in my garage. Many 1/50 commercial big trucks both American and European, as well as construction and logging equipment, and I build 1/24 and 1/25 scale heavy trucks from kits and fabrication.

when I had my Torch Red Z51, I had to take a blue model from Costco, strip it and paint it red.

I have several hundred diecast Corvettes in various scales, C1-C7. Franklin Mint, Danbury Mint, (both 1:24) as well as Maisto, AutoArt, and other 1:18. Also Corvette promo models from '76 on and a few older ones as well. Just checked and I also have 12 storage tubs full of unopened Matchbox/Hot Wheels Corvettes from the '80's through today. Probably another 100 1:18 muscle cars (Ertl, etc.) that started in the '80's as well. I am disappointed, however, in the C7.R race models as they have opening doors only and are resin, not metal. The C5 race models especially were very detailed with more opening/removeable parts. The new ones cost a lot more and leave something to be desired.

Anyone know of a vendor or perhaps a member on the forum who can modify diecasts to more closely resemble the Corvettes I’ve owned? Don’t what to be an exact match but would like them to be pretty close...have the major features and colors correct.

The BBR models are cast resin not die cast metal and have no opening features, such as doors or hood.
Unfortunately, they are the only C7 1/18 convertibles. I actually bought one with the intention of stripping and repainting it to match my DSOM '16.
But, once I got it apart, I realized how fragile it was. I ended up gluing it back together and selling it to a friend that has a Torch Red car and washed my hands of it.
Almost every part I tried to remove broke, as it is almost entirely resin. I think the windshield and axles were the only things not resin!

They are beautiful models, but not worth the money in my opinion...

Why Auto Art or even Maisto didn't do a 1/18 C7 convertible is beyond me. Maisto already does a 1/64 and 1/24 convertible - how hard would it be to upscale it to 1/18, as they already do the coupe.
