Default Why does my HUD change?

Hey Guys,

Im using the same FOB every time I drive my 14 Z51. I have ALL the memory settings stuff turned in the settings and I have Memory 1, 2 and EXIT all set to my seat preferences, I dont want the seat to move every time I turn off the car...

I noticed that at times, my HUD selection (which is the hockey puck / track view) changes to the touring view (the round view)...

Why? My seats are in the right place all the time, so I know the memory is set correctly, and Im not using a different FOB.

Is there a way to correct this? Thanks!

Why would you think your seating preferences would have anything to do with the HUD display?!?

Google "link with drive mode c7"

This happens to me occasionally. At first I thought that I must be bumping the HUD controls with my knee when I get in or out of the car - but - I have seen this happen when I turn off the engine and restart without exiting the car. I can't say for sure if this is still happening after replacing the battery a month or so ago. Old batteries do seem to cause weird problems...

I’d agree. The HUD isn’t tied to the memory presets.

What do you have the display for the center set for? Does it change based on the selector or do you have it locked to sport, touring or track?

What is in my display stays the same, but it slowly drifts upward over time, and I know I am not bumping the dash controls..

HUD, will always return to it's prescribed factory setting programmed position on start up. I don't even notice it anymore, ; unless I'm wanting to use it at 1st gear M7 start up. My engine is so quiet even at Track setting, I must rely at times on the HUD tach, since surrounding traffic conditions drown out the exhaust sound of my C7. After a while, you won't even see it unless you're looking for it - esp. if your C7 is an A8.

My M7 HUD always starts with only mph showing. I have to select three times to get it where I like, circular tachometer. Drive mode is Touring. DIC mode is round tach with gauges on the right side. This is ‘16 Z06. I had a ‘17 GS A8, but it always stayed in same mode, as did all of our C6’s

This random change to touring display when set to track on the HUD seems to be a '14 specific thing. No one knows why or has an answer to it. Many of us have reported, but no answers yet. I've posted this many times with no help.

I just hit the display button twice when it happens, and don't sweat it too much at this point.

It is curious, though.

Mine does the same exact thing about once a month, just hit the button and go drive... For a long time I thought it was me but one time just started the car and it changed just like others have said...

My Nov '15 build Z51 M7 doesn't do any of these things. Both HUD and DIC are unlocked from drive mode.

And did somebody actually post that they can't tell if the car is running? lol wtf?

Same here with my 2017 and previously with my 2015, and I can also state that my knee isn't the perpetrator. It's not a problem since I need to adjust maybe once per month.

I thought mine was doing this too but I eventually figured out that I sit taller in the morning and by the end of the day I am slouching and the HUD image appears higher because of this.

Takes a lot of mental strength to not keep adjusting the mirror !

Anyway, is this still just a '14 problem, or have other MYs noticed this?
