My dealer service guy says he can see this only applies to 26 Corvettes nationwide. He is confused, but thought I'd share for what it's worth.

Ok so you mean some of the upgrade installs were botched and wrong firmware was loaded onto them? We have seen some of those instances reported here in the forum.

What part number should I ask for if the car doesn't have the upgrade? Judging by what is said on the forums most dealers don't have a clue. Any help would be great.
Print this pdf and write down Doc ID 4873206 on it. You dealer tech can then call the toll free listed and provide this doc id along with your VIN. That will get them the right software for your car.

That's my understanding.

Hey everyone.

the other day I posted this:
"does this screw up the MRC upgrade...I'm confused?

So, today I had a perfect opportunity to go to my dealer who apparently did properly do the MRC upgrade on March 16.

His tech ran this recall notice #N182160760 - which appears as one my vette is eligible for / required to get.

The key questions I had were: 1) would this foul the MRC upgrade already done? 2) it not, and this is effectively the same thing - am I entitled to a refund.

Answer - this would foul and override the MRC upgrade and you couldn't reverse it.
This makes some but not complete sense.
I am currently on hold with the customer service call center in the Philippines trying to get to a person in the US...preferably and ultimately the local Zone service manager.

OUTCOME - GOT NOWHERE with the Philippines and nowhere with Detroit customer service. I get my car serviced by a dealer who did not sell me the car...Good dealer, closer to me by 75 miles...I'm calling the selling dealer in Charleston.

I was told the same by a GM World Class Tech:

"There are only 26 vehicle involved in this. Not a huge deal and the VINS are all across the country."

So it's safe to say this is a "Recal Recall" ?

Not a huge deal- unless you are one of the 26 "chosen ones"!

No mention of the 2018 cars. I know the ones prior to Jan 18 have an upgrade for the MRC as they only got half the upgrade when built.

Still not a BIG deal. Just like the airbag reflash, A/C reflashes, etc. If tech knows what they're doing, Ah there's the rub, it will only take 1/2-1hr. Still a PITA if you're a working stiff trying to work this into your schedule.

Mostly joking- lots more important things in life going on. The thing that is stupid and frustrating though is between all the experiences here and my own Chevy service manager calling in to his support line no one can figure out what part number should be installed after paying the $350 for performance upgrade! Would be a lot less frustrating if GM could just clarify this.

Just returned from my dealer and my issue/recall has been fixed and all is well with the MRC/upgrade. They re-flashed the control module to 84421869. Just drove home in Sport mode, definitely a different suspension. I'll let it sit over night and see what's what in the morning.
Anyone with a 17 GS that received the 84375894 upgrade, consider talking to your dealer and see if they could check your install. They can pull your current calibration numbers via their hardware.

Jaylars. What benefit then was your $350 upgrade?
My dealer told me the recall flash would overide the upgrade = $350 wasted.

Did they refund it?

Im not convinced or comfortable with anything I’m reading here.

I have a call in to my selling dealer in Charleston.

What does your recall state?
This is specifically my issue, maybe yours is different. This re-flash was the original "upgrade". They (GM) screwed up and loaded the wrong calibration early on after the release as the "upgrade". Only some vehicles were affected and mine was one of them. I put 14k miles on my car over the last year of ownership. I know my vehicles handling and ride characteristics and can without any doubt say the new calibrations have changed the cars handling and ride characteristics and IMO in a good way. I do not know why your dealer stated that will override your upgrade. This re-flash is the upgrade. If you have a 2017 GS go and have the dealer check the actual calibration numbers in the SCM. Don't rely on some piece of paper or centralized database or anyone else here. The only way to surely know is checking the car itself.
I have the printouts of the process and they show what was installed (OS and Real Time Damping #s) and then what was being re-flashed. I now have 84421869 Real Time Damping in my SCM and Its obvious to me.

I took my 2017 GS in today for the recall and had it serviced. Now I have none of the programing I paid $350 for. Dealer is working on it.

that is exactly the result my servicing dealer told me would happen.

My printout indicates my March MRC upgrade part # is 84375894. I believe that is correct for that download. It is under the heading labeled “Calibration History for : Real Time Damping”

I now have my selling dealer Hendrick in Charleston looking into the situation. I figure a second check and opinion is worth the effort.

So What the Heck is this all about? Do we get a “fix” on a screwed up $350 download?
Do we get essentially the same algorithm that we paid for / then deserve a refund?

GM / Chevy. Please tell us something

What is your calibration now? Do you have the correct calibration (84421869 Real Time Damping), if so, you should be good to go.
