Also, after taking a 100+ trip yesterday I stand a bit corrected in my complaint about the "recall". The handling and ride comfort in Touring seems at least as good as with the $350 upgrade, BUT the steering sensitivity in Touring mode is TOO sensitive. I have had to change the steering to SPORT mode to be more comfortable.
I agree the Tour mode steering always seemed a little loose for me. Even with the "upgrade". I set the steering to Sport ever since it was brand new and never had to deal with it.
I guess if someone only drives from their garage to the middle of the driveway to wash it, Tour mode steering works like a champ.

Too damn funny but in some cases very true.

I have learned (the hard way) and this thread confirms ... leave well enough alone. I like my late 2017 build's Sport/Tour settings. I see no need for change and others who have had the work done on their GS say the same.

I keep these things 2 years and off to the next one. Car runs great ... I change the oil 1/yr (low miler) and enjoy. Shaken, not stirred.

I like Track for steering. Tight and precise like a sports car should feel.

MlwYlm, I ended up getting upgrade last Friday 6/29/18. I drive in Sport mode 90% of time and was hoping for a smoother ride in Sport which I got. I will be keeping car for awhile so thought it was worth buying upgrade.

The changes made to Sport mode are what made me approve of this upgrade.

My thread update.

I've decided to go get the recall done. Scheduled for Friday.

My selling dealer's Service Mgr spoke with the Zone Service Mgr and confirmed for me that this recall will remove/replace/override the current mod which I paid for.

The Zone guy also said I'd get a refund.

Now, I get the work done at a closer dealer (I bought my first C7 from this dealer) and I've told him this story and to PLEASE confirm with the Zone guy that I will get a refund - BOTH dealers have the same Zone rep.
I just want no issues when I get there Friday as re. the refund compensation..
I've told my service guy that I want to go back into the shop and see what codes come up before and after...

Wash him up and Then its off to our fundraiser Cars & Coffee Saturday morning.

If they do this correctly and refund your money, you're going to end up with a free upgrade.

It's not going to remove your paid upgrade. It's going to install the correct one you should have gotten in the first place.

Mtaxman, seeing those big old oak trees with all the moss hanging off the limbs is the only thing I miss about where I spent my first 18 yrs. growing up in Southeast Texas on the Louisiana border (Orange). Definitely don't miss the gazillion mosquitoes that would absolutely swarm you from sundown on & try to suck you dry!

Did the same thing. The upgrade made steering loosey-goosey. I forced it to Sport and saw a great improvement. Just made a 3500 mile journey in Tour and was very happy with the smoothness of the ride. It can take a rough road a lot better than it used to.

I had the MRC upgrade performed on my 2014 Z51 in the spring and I immediately noticed overly sensitive steering in Tour mode. I questioned it on the forum and was told upgrade did not involve steering, I guess it did. I have not received a recall. I went to Chevy website and punched in my VIN and it said no recalls at this time. WTH is going on GM?

It's for 17-18 models. Why would you expect to get anything?

And this isn't a recall. It's a service campaign. Recalls are safety related and get filed with NHTSA.

17 Stingray. The upgrade very definitely affected steering. It was instantly obvious. The good news is that it is easily remedied by forcing it to Sport in options, which tightens up the steering.

Anybody know if the upgrade is available for '17 Z51's yet? Was supposed to be available by the end of the 1st quarter but haven't seen anything yet.

17 Z51 is available. GM hasn't updated the Performance Parts catalog, but we've had at least two users here on the forum who have gotten their 2017 Z51s upgraded successfully.

LAST UPDATE from MTAXMAN

Went to my servicing dealer today with print outs in hand and still a lot of confusion over the "right codes"

I really like the vette tech - Tony. He did the Mag Ride Update for me on 3/16.

The recall notice started all this craziness and this thread.

I was in the shop looking at the computer and observed the following:
  1. My OPERATING SYSTEM code is: 84213967... I have the printout from the GM "Global Diagnostic System 2".
  2. My REAL TIME DAMPING (RTD) code is still : 84375894... I observed that on the laptop in person.
  3. In spite of the new printout that I downloaded last week from the link you can get from the "Mag Ride Update" thread, I do not have the RTD code that appears there which is: 84421869 …
So, I now have certainty about what is programed into my 2017 GS. I believe the ....5894 code is the high performance upgrade code that was released for C7s and for GS's specifically just after January 1.

Bottom line, I felt the difference back in March immediately after the Mag Ride Update. I liked the results. I decided NOT to download the recall update. I don't want anything softer or anything that might override the Sport or Track settings I have now.

For me this horse has been beaten enough; I'll no longer post but will continue to follow the thread

Cheers
