Sorry to hear about your wheels. A month ago, I took my C6 with optional Comp Gray wheels to Discount for new Michelin Super Sports. The car came back with two of the four wheels damaged. I have been a customer of Discount for many, many years and never had a problem with any of my cars including 2 Cadillac CTS, Yukon Denali, Jeep, and, the list goes on. They asked me to bring in the Vette for a "couple" of days and they would send out the wheels to a restorer twenty miles away. I have a problem with that. I decided to touch up myself, but the paint is not available from the dealer or any third party. The paint code is WA924, Gun Metal Gray Metallic. Does anyone have any ideas.
To match your color, take the paint code to a local auto paint or paint/parts store; if they can't order a proper match for you they can often mix up a special batch.
For the standard silver painted wheels on our C6, I had the custom mix done. Two small bottles, two small spray cans. Lasted me until we sold the car after 8 years/102k miles.

I have used DT regularly for 15 years in three cities and am very satisfied with the operation... It appears that each manager has a lot of latitude in how each store is run, and the ones I have dealt with were very professional and interested in maintaining their customer base.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Hope they take care of you. I was lucky recently when I had a bolt in my rear tire on my GS. They repaired it for free with no damage. I guess its a crap shoot out there. I did speak to the manager beforehand about my concerns and he told me they could do it, but that they might damage the tire trying to get it off explaining that they are a bitch to remove. once he said that, i removed the wheel at home and took it to them just in case...

I absolutely couldn't agree more. I pay $250.00 to have my tires changed over with road force balancing at an Exotic car dealer here locally. They have a $37,000 hunter tire machine that literally cannot damage your wheel. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

Sucks that they damaged one, let alone all four wheels. Hope they come through for you and make it right.

Townfair also scratched my rims recently but not as bad as the OP. Like someone mentioned, seems to be a crap shoot. I should have gone with the dealership but they were 2-3 weeks out to install and I needed them in 1-2 weeks. I regret not waiting. Live and learn I guess...

If the shop doesn't have the machine designed to make that swap painless so that a 5yo could pull it off... run... there's plenty of "good" machines but they are 10s of thousands not 10 thousand dollars which is the kind that can do most wheels... And for any of these businesses which one do you think most buy?
such a low wage job to find a shop that has a dedicated guy worth a dam to change them on an ordinary machine is too rare to chance for the headache that follows. They are out there too. But more like spotting an albino... they exist but not easy to find lol.
Here's where reputation helps and a solid conversation with the manager and tech about your expectations and theirs. If your gut tells you no way? Leave.
just take it to the best wheel refinisher you can find and give them the bill probably charge you 150 200 Max Pro wheel and you'll never know what happened

There is no machine that can change the run flats on the Z06s without manual intervention and prying with a tire iron. Period. It takes skill and specific know how to mount these tires. The better machines help but they are NOT no touch on these tires.
My DT did an amazing job and KNEW what they were doing. It just so happened there were 2 other vettes there getting tires the same day. Not all DT stores have the same equipment or trained staff. CALL and ASK, the ones that do not usually know which other DT in your area does this work.

Many DT stores have the same equipment. Not all, you need to call and ask.
And DT charges $80 for a set of 4 including road force balance. Pretty fair in my book. They even have the TPMS parts if needed in stock.

Otherwise, I agree w. those who say, you just have to find the right person who really does know how to do tires and is probably NOT the least-expensively paid, newest employee in the shop.

I got the DT jack too.. my local shop nicked 2 of 4.. small ones, but still sucked. they sent me over to a local wheel repair shop. The touchup was ok, but I can still tell and see the spots. I keep hearing how these runflats are like hell to mount, and since I don't do it myself, what can I say.
I'd be reeeeal p-o'd if I had a sweet $$$ forged set that they buggered. It's like a gamble I guess. Try to find the best shop you can and hope for the best.
If anyones got leads on a solid shop in San Antonio with that sweet Hunter machine, lmk!

A small chain tire store in my area called Dobbs with 40 locations, couldn't mount GS/Z06 wheels. I asked them just for laughs if they could change the oil on a dry sump motor, and they couldn't. They said they never did one before, and they didn't even have a labor code to charge for it. They didn't carry Mobil 1 oil anyway, plus I didn't want my car to be their first.

How many Corvette tires could a specific DT have mounted to get good at it, especially the GS/Z06 sizes? There are no DT stores in my area anyway.

I didn't realize that. I do know this on my Stingray. DT lays the new tires in the sun half hour or so. Then goes to work mounting them. With that touchless system they have the tires get on those rims as smooth as butter. I wonder if they layed Z06 tires out in the sun they would have an easier touch free time of it?
Here in Illinois, there's lots of times when tires laying in the sun would be below the 20' "cracks if driven" temperature.
