I stand by what I say, most people here can't handle the power of these cars and that's fine.Lots of people buy these cars for different reasons, but when some big mouth comes on here calling GS owners a bunch of posers, I am going to call his *** out.
Well I certainly did not call GS owners a bunch of posers. I like all C7 models, my point was all things being equal as far as driver skills, etc. the Z06 should be faster. I agree most C7 owners can not take advantage or handle the full power of any C7. The Z06 is a beast to handle with all its power and does require skills, nerve and experience to take advantage of its power advantage.

OP: I really enjoyed your original post. Brings back great memories of road trips (we're about to take another one) and canyon carving around here, etc. You did a great job of writing it up too - I felt like I was there! Thank you.

After I read it, I thought to myself 'how long will it take for some knucklehead to turn this into something is really isn't?' Didn't take long. I sometimes wonder why some enthusiasts insist on turning so many threads into 'mine is better than yours'; 'mine is faster than yours'; etc. But then I thought about it a little bit, and believe it's pretty much a very small handful of people who hijack threads and stir the pot for whatever jollies they get from it. And I'm not referring to genuine differences of opinion at all (I find this forum to be full of helpful people and information - I hope I'm one of those!). I'm referring to a couple of people who are (IMO) either intent on turning members on each other or are just angry people. Sometimes it's been entertaining, but there are one or two who continually hijack threads. So..................

Can someone explain to me how the 'ignore' feature I've read about works?

Thank you Hopper12 - The original post was just supposed to be a colorful paragraph describing my evening drive while reflecting on the value of the C7 Corvette - my car as my own reference - not a d*ck swinging contest.

A lot of the hand-wringing that goes on here is such ridiculous Internet bullshit for a guy like me. I LOVE my C7, but the $66K or so I paid (with tax) was a stretch for me (it was SUCH a friggin WASTE of money really) but it's a dream come true, WAY more car than I ever had. MAYBE between now and when I go to the big Corvette Forum in the Sky I have ONE more high zoot sports car in my budget - maybe some future C8 or maybe a Porsche Cayman S or whatever. But I'm not as affluent as many here seem to be. Just grateful I even got to OWN such a phenomenal sports car. The performance is off the hinges, the refinement more than I ever expected in a Corvette.

I just took my GS vert for a regular weekend morning spin and WOW, WHAT A SPORTS CAR. Driven and owned a lot of sports cars in my day, however never experenced one (regardless of price) that
has a more impressive overall package, including handling, performance, lack of squeaks/rattles/road noise, comfort, amenities and visual appeal.

If you want a great all-around sports car, you can't do better IMO for under $100,000.

Joe just likes to pretend to be a wealthy Texan, but he can't even afford to put premium gas in his C7 and he even thinks 25,000 mile oil changes are the way to go!

I just went on the Porsche configurator out of curiosity. Any Carrera with an MSRP of less than $100k is a sally, and looks like it. You want electric seats, sport exhaust, leather, decent wheels, decent audio, keyless remote, sport exhaust, buttons on the steering wheel... $110k for a *base* Carrera. The build quality may be better, but at least with the Corvette it has what you need standard. My 1LT GS has everything I need, and just about every one of these features is a crazy expensive option on a Carrera.

No brainer for sure you get a better more robust engine and then there is the extra 200 hp!
You pay a little more but get it back on resale.

Yes, the Z06 has the better motor...that's it. This is one of the worst douchbaggery response I've seen on CF. SRJ, I usually learn something from you. This...is TMI about your character. I've seen some GSs exceed the price of the Z06 (it's Z-Zero-Six), yet both were less than 100k.

All personal choice and nothing personal. To some a stock C7 or a GS is plenty
Others think it gets boring actually I think the stock Z06 gets boring as well. To use the extra power doesn't mean you drive around at 100..
I mod even the Z06 immediately. The C7 Z06 gets very exciting with near 800 hp. You can get to this level with the strong aftermarket that supports this forum.
and still be under a 100k. You can mod the GS but you don't get the robust lt4 engine.

I think because the OP said 100k it makes the Z06 the competitor to the GS! Then with discounts the Z06 can be purchased pretty reasonable.
