Default Better sports car than the Grand Sport for less than $100K

After this evening's spirited drive through the twisting back roads of Hop Country USA (Willamette Valley, Oregon) I couldn't help but think, "Is there a better car for anywhere near the ballpark $ for the drive I just did"?

No traffic, smooth single lane roads with 20-45 mph S-curves - blue sky and 75 degrees. Wide open views of hop fields and orchards on the straights, followed by tight turns in to bridges over creeks and ponds, dips and whoop-de -doos, a sudden tractor in the road followed by a quick pass with a friendly wave. All the while the car is settled and composed, no darting or wandering - perfect balance at full throttle past the apex of a 35 corner. The tire grip is immense and the traction control/active handling keeps me at bay even when the pedal hits the floor at 5000 rpm coming out of a tight corner into a wide open straight.

Sure, I can imagine a bit more power in the middle of the 3rd gear pull, but why would I really need that when triple digits already come up as a quick surprise?

I've driven my share of fast cars over the years, but I am SO impressed with the overall character of the 2019 Grand Sport I just had to gush....

May your drives in your C7's be as excellent as mine was this evening - Cheers!

Default Let me edit my post

Based on the reply of said Troll - let me adjust my post to say, Seventh generation Corvette rather then Grand Sport. On my drive this evening I enjoyed a 2019 CHEVROLET CORVETTE - model not with standing. I am sure that a base Stingray, Z51, Grand Sport, Z06 or ZR1 would have all been amazing.

Depends what you mean by better...

If you don't think faster is better, it is hard to guess what you like. Cars in the price range that pop to mind as being better for me would be the 911 and amg gts. I could make an argument for the alpha 4c... uuummm what else? Maybe an f-type jaguar? Especially if we are comparing auto vs auto.

Because it (ZO6) is better. You may not know it, because you don't have one! You sound like just another gs troll that cannot
afford one.

Really dude. Don't be one of those guys.
I do a lot of autoxing, only 2 so far with the GS. I can't wait to go up against a Z06. Most guys can't handle that much power and I can't wait for the excuses.

Really dude? You're claiming your gs is faster than all ZO6es. That's one h#ll of a keyboard you've got there..... Yeah, sure....all day sport.....

How did this turn into zo6 vs. GS so fast? Zo6 may be faster, GS is definitely a better track car. My friend went 1:41.1 today in his GS today at laguna. May be a "record" in the zo6 section come to think of it. Either way, he was flying for one of us.

zo6 is faster, no doubt

Although I have a Z06, if I was to do it all over again I would have went with GS (if I got an excellent price).
NO WAY does the Z06 make sense in the Willamette Valley...way too many cops around.
It would be great to be able to unwind a Z whenever ya want here, but it's just too risky... a Z06 can get above 100mph in a heart-beep.

Anyway, a good place nearby to drive your GS with gusto is the area of Wallace Road in W. Salem to McMinnville and west to 99W.
Lots of rural pavement and not much traffic or cops.

I am going to have to add the 917 and m2 as at least being in the mix.

auto vs auto I would choose the jag.

as a true sports car? The alpha 4c

all things being even I would take a 991.2 or mmaayybbee a 991.1

Are we counting used cars? A previous generation vantage would be a better sports car / grand touring car in my mind

Is an amg gts comparable in price in your mind?

I have a base non Z51 convertible and for non track purposes I can't imagine needing better handling for a fun ride in the country. However, while I see no need for a GS, I am intoxicated by the 650 HP of the Z06 and would consider getting one in the future.

It’ll also give you “a bit more power in the middle of 3rd gear pull...”

Nonetheless, good to hear that you’re impressed with your GS, which is a great car
