Maybe I should get a Z51 badge on my car!

I always considered a “Z” to refer to my old Datsun 240Z.

I've tended to think the same way after owning a 350Z and later a couple 370Z in an around the Vettes I've owned.

I actually still think that way. I used to own a 1973 Datsun 240Z, 1975 Datsun 280Z and 1990 Nissan 300ZX. Wish I still had the 240Z, the original Z-car.

No Corvettes are a Z. They just aren’t.

How about the 1963 427 Impala Z11, the 1965 Malibu 396 Z16 and the 1967 Camaro 302 Z28? Don't they count? They were around before the Datsun's.

Default Z51 Colors

There were a few colors changing over time. For me I always loved the Crystal Red Tintcoat Red. Far more shine than the Torch Red. But just my opinion. Agree the Z51 is the best car for the value and if they discontinue it will be the collector C7 down the road.

I'm actually surprised that Long Beach Red has survived this long as the Corvette's metallic reds usually get changed up every 2-3 years and they've quite often gone back to the brighter metallic reds like Crystal Red, Magnetic Red, etc. I wonder if they'll come out with a brighter metallic red before the end of the C7 run?

Nope, they don’t count.
Z as the prefix in the model name is not a Z-car. Z has to be the suffix to be a Z-car. That’s my rule and I’m sticking with it.

Don’t hold back- tell us how u feel!

don’t really know what “purest” means and beautiful is subjective... but cheapest and zr1 is fastest?

With the GS, I see enough differentiation with the z51 that I hope the powers that be keep the z51 as a more performance option of the base c7.

The Z51 optioned C7, is the most purest, cheapest, most beautiful AND fastest form of C7!

There's nothing to get rid of, Z51 is simply an Option.
The GS is a model with wide body look and Z51 Option, with bigger brakes, and bigger tires to accommodate the fender flares.
Very nice package and sells well because the look appeals to a larger number of people, and some that want improved Track ability.
But as mentioned, not everyone wants the bigger tires and everything they involve for the street.
IMO if all C7's had a wide body look with the base tires etc, there would probably be less buyers interested in an actual GS.
The GS looks Great to me, but I'm one that's not interested in the bigger tires

Lol with all due respect to Z51 owners, saying GS is a model with a "wide body look and Z51 option with bigger brakes and bigger tires to accommodate the fender flares" is like saying: the Z06 is a wide body look with a Z51 option with bigger brakes and an elevated hood and aero package to accommodate a modified engine, and bigger tires to accomodate the fender flares. C'mon!

Just like the Z51 is the base with a few performance tweaks to make you think it's almost a track car, I think of the GS as the Z06 body without the blower and less aggressive aero, and i can add FI to it one day to take advantage of the chassis.

The base C7 with Z51 and the C7 GS share the same aggressive gearing, that the Z06 doesn't have. The GS and the Z06 do not share the same gearing. Add a blower(E-Force 2.3L or Heartbeat 2.3L) to the GS and you have greater acceleration than the Z06, because of the lower gearing and the larger blower. The GS does have the larger Z06 brakes, that the Z51 doesn't' have.
