That's one of the things that impresses me the most about these cars, it's so easy to get great mileage when you're cruising on the highway. On Friday night I picked up my 16 year old son for the weekend and on the 50 mile trip home from his place I averaged 38 MPG! I even made about 4 or 5 full throttle blasts along that run too. So it's like having your cake and eating it too

Considering the performance potential of our vehicles I find the mileage to be quite good, however I must be doing something wrong. I usually average an actual 22 to 23 MPG in mixed driving. My optimistic trip computer generally indicates 1.5 to 2 MPG greater than that. I have never had a tank of gas exceed 23.5 actual MPG. I guess the somewhat hilly area I drive in decreases my opportunity for the fantastic mileage some of you get. Again, I'm not complaining I'm quite happy with the mileage I get.

Wow,9 posts and not even 1 moronic,"I didn't buy my car for good gas mileage" or "I don't care about gas mileage" reply. Has to be a record. I am very happy with the gas mileage of my 7 month old C7 M7.

Mine is all over the place depending on where and how I'm driving. I think it averages around 23 mpg with probably over 50% on streets versus highway. So far the best 25 mile average has been 29.4 but I've never driven 25 miles just on the freeway. But my feeling is that the mpg is going to be great once I do some extended freeway driving. My friend with an M7 says he easily gets over 30 mph on a 3.5 hour mostly level trip to see his girlfriend. And he isn't known for driving slowly.

21 mpg 1 tankful ago, 19.8 mpg this tankful, calculated from the receipts, AFM on, V8 all the time. A8 shifting for itself. 1 oz of Chevron 65740 Techron Concentrate Plus fuel system cleaner added after every fillup.

On my trip to Road America for the IndyCar race the previous weekend I drove from my home to Fond du Lac, WI and checked the DIC at that point. I traveled 320 miles, averaged 27.3 MPG, and average speed was 72 MPH. I keep it in sport mode-don't switch to ECO so there is always enough power to make a quick pass, etc. without the reduced performance. Overall for the trip I drove 850+ miles with an average MPG of 28.2. The average speed dropped to 62 MPH as that included traffic to/from the track, driving to dinner, etc. Still quite good!

Nothing. MPG for short runs means nothing useful. These reports of outstanding MPG are misleading at best. It doesn't matter what MPG you get for the "last 50 miles." What matters is the OVERALL MPG over time. The car reports that so people tend to as well. I have never reset my "Trip A" meter and over 17,000 miles it reads 27 MPG and change. My last 3500 mile trip to the Grand Canyon and back netted me 29.2 MPG with some pretty hefty mountain driving on Highway 550 (The Million Dollar Highway.) It was 29.9 before we started squirreling around in the mountains. I expect to beat that on my next road trip to Rapid City and back. None of that was in Eco mode. So yeah, they get good mileage, but don't believe the exaggerations. It's not the whole story.

Well, you got 1 thing right. The mileage on short runs isn't important. But when you say," reports of outstanding MPG are misleading at best" is just wrong, period. How could they be? They are fact. Obviously,to most of us,getting far better gas mileage on the interstate is real. You know it,I know it. And everybody here realizes gas mileage is 1/3 less in town. So how is it misleading? There are no exaggerations-just fact. Can I show you a photo of 34.2 mpg on a 25 mile stretch? You know it's fact, hence it's NOT misleading. And everyone here knows it's," not the whole story".

Im getting around 30 to 32 MPG...and that's driving my Z51 exactly the way I want too. I dont race her or ever go to a track, I dont beat on her, but I just have fun. There is no one that can argue a car with 460 HP, that goes 0 to 60 in around 4 seconds, and gets even CLOSE to 30 MPG isn't amazing... My Lexus doesn't even get 30 MPG... That is why the Vette (to me) is such a bang for the buck. Outstanding gas mileage, gorgeous looks (and I mean ALL years of Vette's), super fast, handles amazingly...and best of all...its AMERICAN!!
