Default Ready to purchase-what do you think?

Last Corvette I owned was new C6 2007. Children went to university, so sold my toy to help pay their tuition. They have all graduated and now on their own. Ready to purchase another corvette. Have negotiated a little on a black on Black 2015 Z51 2LT, auto, certified, chrome wheels, one owner, 1,800 miles for $48,000.
This will be a beautiful weather weekend cruiser for my wife and I. Is this a fair deal? Is there anything I would miss in not upgrading to newer model and 3LT?
thank you- glad to be joining the Corvette family again

Be sure to test drive the car when the car is cold. Observe how it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear and how it downshifts when coming to a stop. There are some known issues with the automatic transmission that affects a small number of Corvettes. I drive a 2016 Z51 A8 and it has been flawless.

Do a search for this to read some of the stories....but do remember that relatively few cars are affected. Most of them are fine and don’t have this issue. If that black car checks out OK, grab it. You’ll love it.

Oh, and welcome back...

I just bought a '14 2LT, low miles, can't be told from a new car. That sounds like a good price. As far as I've researched, they're very close to the new ones in all respects, and 3LT will get you nav and a little more pizzazz on the dash cover. I would go for it!

Sounds like a great deal. I'd also purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Just to be on the safe side.

The only thing I miss in my 2015 is car play which came on the 16s.

By Certified, do you mean Certified Pre-Owned?

If yes, then GM's got your six, so go for it!

As EXRR states, check the trans. In addition to his suggestions, set cruise at say 70 on the freeway and check to if you get abnormal RPM variations (needle hop).
Also examine body closely under bright light, looking for damage, especially for chipping/popping paint at body panel seams.
Personally, I wouldn't even consider a 3LT as it's basically a $5500 option above 2LT for navigation and upgraded leather that has shrinking issues that requires removal of entire dash to resolve.

You might want to consider new Stingrays from forum sponsor as new are available (less Z51 option) for not a lot more the $48,000 you are considering spending.
Good luck.

yes it is a GM certified warranty! It fits within GM guidelines and the dealership certified it.

That sounds high to me. I paid $57K for a new ‘17 GS LT1 MT with a few options. About $10k off MSRP.

Yep, sounds like a fair deal to me, and there isn't much to be gained by waiting on a 3LT if this car is saying to you "take me home." You can ask the dealer (if it's a GM dealer) to run the repair records/ VIS report to make sure it hasn't had any major repairs, but at those low miles I wouldn't think there would have been any. Good luck.

I believe it is a fair deal. However, for a few bucks more your can get a brand new 2019. You need to deal with one of the larger dealers who would discount $7500 to 9,000. under MSRP. ( Kerbeck or Macmulkin)

I agree w. those above who say it's a fair price, esp. for 1) CPO by GM, 2) miles and 3) 2LT. Originally, I did think it might be a little higher than what it should be. But, more I thought about it, more I thought this has an okay price for what the car is. I'd still do the things mentioned above and even WITH only 1,800 miles I'd still do the VIS check, the KBB and the CarFax (yes it may sound excessive, and it is your $48K so you decide).

Don't forget to post up pics after you get the car! Good luck!

Edit: there's no comp car on kerbeck's site for less than 7K asking more. and I believe they're firm on prices advertised. (could be wrong on the last part). only criswell has 1 at 6K more. stanford and mac, both don't.

Just a note if you don't "need" all the goodies, that price isn't much less than I paid for a NEW lt1 from Kerbeck's.

Trying to stay below $50,000- since I don't have a trade in-I have to pay taxes on top of entire amount and in TN that's almost 10%.

Thank you for the suggestion for the VIS check-I had not thought about that. It does have a super clean Carfax-but those can even be manipulated. The corvette was purchased new at the dealership and traded back into the dealership for a new truck. Apparently the owner was struggling getting in and out.

There always seems to be a better deal somewhere else-before long it gets splitting hairs. Corvettes in the Nashville TN area at GM dealers are like everything else in the Nashville area- extremely high. The boom has affected Corvette prices here as well. Two dealers I have worked with will not even negotiate on their price. I have never purchased any car; Lexus, Audi; Corvettes(in the past) and paid list price before. It's crazy in Nashville. I have walked on two possible deals-and they just let you walk!

Yes seems to always be one elsewhere that is a little less expensive. After a while I guess you just have to pull the trigger and not look back!

Yes I forgot to list that this 2LT does have navigation; the only thing it doesn't have apparently is the front cameras. It even has black painted calibers; stingray logo car cover and stingray logo hood pad. I was told the previous owner ordered all those accessories with the car.

If you like the car, buy it, life is too short. There is always a better deal somewhere just like the grass is always greener.

Yep- probably won't go to my grave saying "I wish I would have purchased a 3LT instead of 2LT!"

If it is a car that you like then it sounds like a good deal. 1800 miles is low which means owner 1 never drove it. My main concern would be an annoying issue that is considered normal by GM.
