I bought a lid from forum vendor APSISUSA, with Grand Sport embroidering on it, very nice but I can't seem to find a picture of it.

id rather buy new console lids out of my own pocket than a dish towel on my armrest.

i would rather use the dish towel, then you can pick your nose and wipe your fingers, and if you slop your coffee one can wipe it up a bit.

I'm interested to see how your new ones compare to the ones on my late build 2018, to see if I also have the firmer ones. I drive just like you, resting my elbows on both the door arm rest and on the console. I'm not going to change my driving style just to prevent a possible problem though.

i would rather change my habits, than spending $900+ for a door panel, and whatever the console lid costs.
or have dent in the arm rest and console lid looking like crap.

I couldn't change my driving habits if I tried, I've been driving this way for 32 years, and am not changing anytime soon. Hopefully I won't have an issue

my 2017 vert is going in next week for a oil change, The service writer said it does not matter if I rest my elbow on the lid when driving. That should not happen, He ordered a new lid to be installed when the car is serviced

I added this Custom Console Cover that I purchased from a fellow forum member. You'll notice its two-tone black and gray, I was looking to add some color to my black interior. The leather is much thicker than the 1LT and 2LT. It also has a lot more padding. But I will tell you that I still use a towel on the console just to keep it clean and prevent my arm from sweating on it, afterall this Tucson, AZ

Do any of you guys use sunscreen? The reason I ask is because of my early post on this forum indicated that my console lid was perfect for 2.5 years until I started using sunscreen on the elbow area of my arm. Right where it sits on the lid and also on the door armrest. Within a couple of weeks the lid and armrest were shot to hell. See my post number 6 within this thread.
Maybe the newer lids won't be adverse to sunscreen.

I wonder if the "Z06" embroidered lids are made with the older material/foam or whether they have also been improved, considering they are an accessory and not installed during production. I would like to get one, but I don't want one that's been sitting on a parts shelf for 3 years if it was made with the older material/foam.

I have heard that same story from other people. The factory lid is not great, but added a chemical to it could make it worse.

Dave,
Is that a GM lid? If so, do you have a part #,,, If not where did you get it?

Thanks,
Dale

FWIW, it doesn't seem to be a problem for those with MF lids.

Mine has 95,000 miles on it and has no denting of the foam/ stretching of the leather. Granted, mine is not leather, but it only has a general "matting" of the material, which is expected after so long with my elbow (which is pretty darned pointy) smashed into it.
