Is the C7 Grand Sport worth the extra $10k?
I知 looking to buy my first corvette at 24.. I知 stuck between the stingray and grand sport 1lt. I really want the grand sport but I cant find one for $52K max. Somebody told me to wait til the winter but I知 not sure I can get one for that amount at all. I seen a couple online for $56 but I have a budget and I don稚 want to finance at all (trying to stay away from that!).
Also I was thinking if I can稚 find one in my budget I was just going to buy a stingray and add a wide body kit.. not sure if that痴 possible

IMHO - if you are going to run your car on the track, the GS is worth every bit of the extra $10K. If not, save yourself some money and buy the Stingray. I bought my 2018 Stingray in March for $52.5K - Admiral Blue with automatic transmission, performance exhaust, red calipers, black Z51 wheels, and performance data recorder/nav system......and I have never looked back!

For me, the difference new was about $30k, so it definitely was not worth it. When I ordered my 2014, I opted not to pay the extra $25k for the z51, and I am still satisfied with what I have. The base price of my Stingray was only $51k.

I'd say Stingray with Z51 if you are trying to stay in/on budget. Skip the widebody kit (its a Corvette not a Mitsubishi Eclipse). Cheaper to run the Stingray vs. the GS when it comes to tires as well.
Z51 is not $25k more...maybe the one you looked at or spec'd was, but its only (as of 2019 MY) a $5000 jump from the 1LT to a 1LT Z51. Not $25k.

I'm very happy with my base 1lt Stingray but I am not a track guy. I think the z51 is a very good value however I prefer the softer ride of the Stingray. My next one will be a 1lt also. I like to keep things simple. I simply am not interested in any of the other options with the exception of npp exhaust.

I was in the same spot as you 3 months ago. I realized that a GS was slightly out of range and picked up a 2015 Z51 3LT after telling myself that I'd wait for a grand sport (mainly because of the wide body). Most of my driving is on the street. so I'm not really losing anything from a performance standpoint. My car has side skirts and and front splitter and I'm not missing the GS looks at all and am very happy with the car. Getting the right color combination (inside and out) was not something I would compromise on.

When I was looking to buy my Stingray I checked forum dealers and called several and even though they have lots of cars in stock there are some that will give you great prices on an "ordered" car where you just buy what you want. I'm sure these same guys have something on their lots or coming in that you can negotiate. However, if you really like the wide body Grand Sports, settle on that. Be patient and don't give up. It痴 like always, depends what you want. I wanted all the GS extras and I absolutely love the car. If you want all the things that you get extra, it痴 actually quite a bargain. If you don稚 care about wide body and all the track goodies it痴 a waste of money. For me it was a bargain. Chevy did well on this Vette. Drives amazing and looks killer. I get stares every where I go.

If you aren't going to track it and it's just for looks I'd say no. You will also want to consider the more expensive maintenance.

IMO, the GS package offers the most Bang for the Buck of any package. Just the MRC feature is $3500, not counting the wide-body and all the other performance goodies.
GS Performance Package features ($10,000): Specific front fender inserts; Z06 style grill; wider rear fenders; front splitter; rocker skirts, additional brake cooling vents and wickerbill rear spoiler; GS CUP-style wheels; Michelin super-sport summer only tires (P285/30ZR19” front, P33525ZR20” rear); 6-piston front and 4-pison front Bremo brakes; Slotted brake rotors; Magnetic Ride Control and Electronic Limited-slip differential; NPP exhaust, Dry-sump oil system; Rear differential cooler; transmission cooler.

IMO, the best bang for the buck is a 1LT Stingray (add an automatic if you choose to). It is for all intents a loaded car w/ great performance. .0-60 in under 4 seconds, great AC, good stereo, comfortable to drive and ride in. Excellent value. If you are on a budget, this car is the car you want.

As far as the 10k vs 30k, I don稚 think we are talking about the GS with Z07 package in this thread.

Only you can answer the question regarding worth. The Stingray and GS have been juxtaposed countless times. If you’re even considering a Stingray with a wide body kit, then get the GS. Also, if you’re willing to spend 52K on a car that you kind of like, or 56K on a car that you “really want,” then save a little longer. Lastly, yes, Corvettes typically drop in price during the winter months. GL.

get the grand sport, even if you do not personally like it. everybody else looking for a vette does. makes a difference financially when you go to trade it.
