Maybe FIVE years down the road... after some of the bugs are worked out.

Unless there is room for two small golf bags and 2 small suitcases, I'll be keeping my FE Corvette or a new FE if they come out with one. I daily drive and use my Corvette, so trunk space is critical to me.

Im still not convinced on the ME for the corvette. How long has this been a rumor now? My thoughts they will continue to update the C7 platform for a few more years just like they have in the previous generations. Retooling a manufactering facility for a totally new platform isn't cheap to do
Tremic has already said they are building a 7 speed dual clutch transaxle!
Remember the Pontiac Fiero1 It was mid engine and cheap! No reason it has to be very expensive! Now the version with the 3.5 Liter V8 with double overhead cams, 4 vales per cylinder with dual turbos and 700 hp will be more! Just like the ZR1. But it will come year 2 or 3! It will have wider rear fenders! Since they did it with the C6 and now the C7 there will be a Grand Sport model with a NA engine!

I bought my 2013 at the end of the C6 run. I never regretted it because the 20% off MSRP I got wasn’t going to be doable on a C7. Having since sold my C6, I have been thinking about a C7 and now that Elkhart Lake Blue will be available this fall, I thought I’d order one. But now I’m having pre-buyers remorse, that maybe it’s best to wait for the C8 or ME or whatever you want to call it.

Not sure . . . I would really need to drive one first. My concern is actually the level of cockpit noise--this is our daily driver in nice weather. And it would need to be offered in a vert for me to consider.

Drifting
I have had my stingray for 3 years now and still love the car and the performance and looks it has. But if the new mid engine vette is cool looking and has good hp I might just switch if the cornering ability is vastly improved. I love going fast around corners. I guess the other factor is the cost. I would probably go 15 to 20k more than I paid for the c7 but not more than that. And I will only pay that if it truly awesome.
What about ya'll?

Don't plan on trading my GS, may add one if I like the way it looks and drives. I believe we are still a few years away.

So funny, That's what I do. Should have bought a 5 car garage instead of a 5 bedroom house. How stupid .

Ive had my C7Z for 3.5+ years and still love it. I dont expect to be a buyer for a new C8 as im tired of depreciation. I plan on keeping the Z and buying a used Viper... either a 14 TA or gen 2 GTS

If available in a manual, then maybe. If auto only, then no.

I don't plan to trade in my C7 for a Mid-Engine version. I like looking out over the hood and the humps over the wheels. I also like the amount of storage area in the C7. Plus, the front-engine configuration has been the setup since the car's inception in 1953. For the type of driving I do, my C7 gives me all the driving, cornering, etc. capability I need.
But it will be interesting to see what the ME version will actually look like when it finally hits the market.

At least it's has efficient standard trans spur gears but the two separate clutches are operated by computer. Essential two transmissions with the next gear already engaged when it's clutch is engaged. That is all you can get in a Ferrari and may other high performance cars. At least better than a GM less efficient slush box!
I'm getting my mind used to it as have been driving only a standard shift for my DD for ~60 years. That was a three speed on the floor, progressed to a 4 speed and have had four 7 speeds! First was a Dodge Colt turbo with a twin stick overdrive and my 1st Vette, an '88, that came with a Dough Nash 4 speed and electrically operated overdrive activated by a button on top of the shift ****. Could activate in 2nd, 3rd and 4th with 7 unique and split gear ratios! Not nearly as easy to use as my 2014 C7 or Grand Sport!

The benefit to the Dealer was GM only supplied those initial cars to actual customer orders when they started to ship. When I picked mine up the first week in October 2013, dealer was frustrated they could not get one for their showroom! Mine was on display for a day but locked and they would not let anyone sit in it!

Then consider a C7 your last Vette! Tadge said that in a post and Tremic has already said they will supply a dual clutch transaxle for the C8 that does not have a third pedal!

I'm trying to warm up to life after the clutch pedal. I had the opportunity to drive a 488 and an Aventador for some hot laps while at an exotic car experience this spring. I admit the DCT and the fast response/shifts were impressive, compared to any standard paddle shift automatic I've ever driven, but the overall feel is more clinical (for lack of a better word) vs. the fun factor of shifter and clutch.
