Default '18 Grand Sport torque tube problem

I just had to have the torque tube on my 2018 GS replaced after only 7k miles. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Just drive the A8 however you want. I track the hell out of my GS and no problems. You worrying or babying the car will not change the outcome. Drop it off to get fixed if it pops up. No big deal.

What lead to that?

Had the same thing happen on my 2017 GS, the front pressed bearing was out of place so they replaced the torque tube.

I am currently having the exact same issue on my 2017 Z06 with 5000 mi on it. It is going into the dealer tomorrow. My 2012 GS had the toque tube replaced after 10,000 mi as well.

Default Torque Tube Problem

I have a 2018 G/S with 4,400 miles on it. I developed a weird noise when vehicle was cold. Vehicle is at dealership, they said the torque tube was the issue. Don't have vehicle back to see verify repair.

Just curious... Did any of you have the Range installed or primarily use manual mode?

I've already made the decision to trade my GS in on something else if I end up having problems with the TC. So far, I haven't had any issues (after 3 months and < 1000k miles of ownership) and I hope I never do, but every day someone comes on here, seemingly unaware of this well-known issue (at least for forum members) to report a problem.

It's disheartening to say the least....

Agreed, this A8 debacle has taken the fun out of ownership for a lot of folks. And it is not just Corvettes, I had the TC shudder in my 2016 Camaro 2SS. Supposedly, a new fix is coming, hopefully it is not snake oil.

Ya, mine is pretty much down for winter now, so I'm hoping by spring we'll hear something promising. Until then, she'll just look pretty in the garage

Just drive the A8 however you want. I track the hell out of my GS and no problems. You worrying or babying the car will not change the outcome. Drop it off to get fixed if it pops up. No big deal.

Same here , i drive the heck out of my A8 , track it every chance I can , not going to waste my time worrying about it , if it happens ...it happens , that is why we have a power train warranty

I have a 2017 GS A 8 for quite some time when coming to a stop there was a loud rattling noise and had taken it to dealer once and got the old, could not duplicate. answer so took it to different dealer yesterday and they advised torque tube needs to be replaced with only 6000 miles on it. I drove the heck out of two Grand sports for 3 days at Spring Mtn track and never had this problem, but if you look on the web, this is quite an involved process. They literally have to remove the whole rear clip, exhaust system and cats to get it the tube down and replace. I have read where an aftermarket company is making a carbon fiber torque tube that weighs 16 lbs less that has perfect symmetry and has not failed yet.
I doubt this is what the dealer is going to install. Book calls for 12 hrs labor to remove tube and 12 hrs to re install. Dealer says they will have the car at least three days to do this fix.

Waiting now for the cal that its done

What part of the torque is failing that requires replacing the entire unit?

Is it any wonder M7’s are worth more used then A8’s?
