Intercity let me down
#61
I don't recall ever seeing a bad post on this forum about Intercity and I don't believe the OP's complaint is valid. My friend had his new C7 shipped from MacMulkin in NH to Concord, CA with Intercity and was extremely happy with the service. He didn't choose the shipper; MacMulkin did and I'm sure they wouldn't risk damaging their reputation utilizing an inferior shipping company.
My carriers have always done exactly what I contracted for on cross-country vehicle shipments. In fact, if I wanted a car picked up Monday and shipped, I can do that in one step online. At the BEST rate too! I'd never be held hostage as some agree to that I've been reading their horror stories.

Intercity Is Awesome
Intercity flawlessly shipped my 2018 GS from MacMulkin to my North Dallas Residence in April 2018. They cost more than a broker, and I knew that. Quality costs more in most instances. They couldn't deliver the car on the exact day or week I wanted, and they were up front about it. I still booked them and patiently waited. I could have had the car delivered sooner and cheaper by other shippers - but wasn't willing to take the risk. I have shipped several of my DDs nationwide and to Hawaii and used credible open truck shippers, and they delivered my cars intact, save a bit road dirt and grime. This is a great country, the choice is ours.

I don't think that's right. I'm reading troubles on all three major carriers here on C7 at various points over time. This thread for one. There's a reason why the dealers don't include shipping on the C7s they ship Nationally. They don't want to be tied in to the customers' dissatisfied state of not getting their car on the time promised, or, getting told to get lost (basically) as they did to the OP's enquiry. Perhaps you're good with that? "Can you pick up and ship my car within this wide window? No? What can you do? Don't call us, we're busy. Oh, sorry for bothering you."

That's the problem, it was NOT that strict of a timeline. okay, yes, I am upset, but the bottom line is that Intercity and Reliable are at least 50% higher than anyone else. if I can't count on "the best", I might as well rent a $50.00 trailer from UHaul and just do it myself..

For a few hours locally, sure. But for a week it will be at least $800 and probably a drop off fee. I just did a test at Uhaul towing from Seattle to Macon, Georgia and it came up $791 for a car trailer. You'll need a decent rig to tow the trailer, then there's gas for your tow, motels, food, etc. I usually figure $250 a day minimum for traveling, but that's with good gas mileage. For a truck you probably need to add $100 to that as gassers don't get good mileage while towing. You can go cheap with a Motel 6 or have some class in a Drury. Don't know where OP is going, but figure a few days travel and you've just spent what Intercity would charge to bring it to you. Edit: And, of course, your time. My time is worth nothing, but if you have to take vacation, that's another cost. So good luck with that $50 trailer idea.

Safety Car
I either park my car right in front of the lobby door, or get a 1st floor unit and park it next to my window. Put a lock on the hitch, and disable the tow vehicle by pulling the fuel pump relay.

I cannot believe the OP is pissed for being given an honest answer....Jeeze what's next? Expect Intercity to PAY YOU to ship your car!!!
AND I cannot believe other posters for supporting and agreeing with the OP!
WTF???

That’s not really true. A few months ago I contacted MacMulkin about a car on their lot, and in the discussion, the option to ship it to me was mentioned. I’m almost certain Intercity was specifically mentioned, which leads me to believe they do, in fact, have a working relationship.

I have used Intercity with great success; I’m active duty, so I move every couple years and have more cars than drivers...They were honest, showed up when they said they would and my vehicles were treated with care and respect. Well worth the gamble over internet drop shippers to save a few bucks.
OP made his point - he didn’t like the straight answer he got and started his thread as a disingenuous hit piece with a provocative title.
I simply can’t believe this incessant wanking has gone on for days now...

OP is a self centered type. All about him, at the expense/inconvenience of everybody else.

Don't get me wrong; I liked the rest of your post. But this part is the absolute truth.
Especially that last part: just look at all the suggestions of alternatives on this one thread. The choice is yours to make. Not only are there places where you won't have any car, but to have a choice of transporters? Not that, either.

This is great advertising for Intercity. The guy came here to slam them and the reverse happened. Keep the thread going.

True! Back in 1998 I went to Memphis for a Camaro/Firebird gathering and one of the guys who was staying in the Holiday Inn had his truck and trailer and rare Firebird stolen. We even hired private security to patrol the parking lot to make sure our cars were safe and that didn't help (we figure that security guy either got paid off, was in on the theft, or got held up at gun point and didn't admit to any of it)

I purchased our G/S in feb. 2017. Due to the weather on the east coast, the crew at MacMulkin kept me informed and up to date about when Intercity would be able to pickup our car. The Intercity driver kept us informed along the way ( NH. to WA.) and called the day before delivery and was actually 1/2 hour early. This is the only time i've had a car shipped so I can't compare to other shippers, but I am totally satisfied with my dealings with MacMukin and Intercity

I used Passport when I bought my 2018 GS in January this year from Kerbeck. They were upfront about being busy at that time of the year and gave me a window for pickup and delivery. While I had to wait approximately 3+ weeks, the actual pick-up and delivery were within the range they gave me. Once the car was picked up, it was somewhat fun to track the truck as it made its way across the U.S. via the GPS tracking software.
