Too much car for me?

Real easy to drive. Just make sure that it is pointed straight in the road before getting on it.

No Corvette is "too much car" for anyone who takes the time to learn the vehicle. There are a dozen or more videos of some yahoo getting into a 'vette, stomping on the gas, lighting up the tires and exiting the road in as much time as it takes to read this sentence... The probable cause? IGNORANCE of how a high powered car behaves.
IMO it's a matter of matching the machine to the intended mission... If you want to compete on the track on a regular basis, then the Z 'vette or GS should be on your list. If it's a daily driver with little or no track use, then a "base" Stingray is entirely appropriate for simplicity and lower cost.
After doing the Spring Mountain owner's course, I found that my base Stingray has all the power, handling and performance I can ever apply on the street (with a few track days thrown in just 'cuz) and its relative simplicity provides improved reliability just 'cuz there are fewer things to leak or break than with a GS, I see the money saved and simplified systems as hedging my bets against Murphy's Law.

When I put a supercharger on my 08’ 2 years ago, I heard similar comments. Why, 430 hp wasn’t enough? Where you going to use use all that power? How big of a burnout you going to do? I always wanted to own a boosted car. I saved up my pennies and did it. I was a little nervous at first. But learned by driving it. Smiling after each time. OMG! So much fun! Go out and enjoy your car every chance you get. Tomorrow is never guaranteed .

Safety Car
I HAD a Z51 and these guys were telling me I was not going to like the GS or couldn’t handle it compared to my Z51. I wanted to know what the difference was between the two from people who have owned both. My only problem will probably be getting in it with high heels on because of the side ground effects...I’m fairly confident that I can drive it.... Maybe not to its potential though.
They have identical HP, they will be almost the same. Sounds like the haters are clueless and think the GS is actually a Z06 with 650HP. SMH. Idiots.

If you can afford it, then is not much car for you. Don't pay attention to them and go ahead. Probably they are jealous about you.

I suppose it is all depending on what you consider being a slug. To me, my NA stock stingray at 4500 ft was WAY underpowered. That being said, I have many years of drag racing 700 hp 2000 lb eclipse and talons. So to me, the corvette seems VERY slow without having forced induction. Even with my current 650 hp supercharged corvette, I feel like it is still a little slow for me. For someone that wasn't used to fast cars, im sure a stock stingray will be plenty powerful.

Drifting
OP - These cars are very mild-mannered if driven conservatively, and very capable if driven aggressively. Take your time, pick your places and work into whatever skill you are interested in developing gradually so that you can gain confidence and familiarity with the cars capabilities.
Instead of thinking the car is more than you can handle, I would have suggested the opposite. Look at it this way instead: the car is able to deliver performance that few cars can. It can out accelerate, out corner, and out brake just about every other car on the road. This is a plus because in the hands of a capable driver, it is one of the safest cars on the road.

Zombie thread. But I'd disagree. Cold PSS tires and reckless driving can result in bad things.

jenfioreally;
Sad question.
*No! Gender is not a factor.*
"Gender equality" means that the different behavior, aspirations and needs of women and men are considered, valued and favored equally. While, the overall, objective of gender equality is a society in which women and men enjoy the same opportunities, rights and obligations in all spheres of life?
Many thanks,
Ray

Too much car for you - only you can answer that. But the Corvette, including the GS is an easy car to drive. As with any high performance vehicle, there is a period of adjustment while you get used to the car but once that is accomplished, it will be a blast to drive.

Gender has nothing to do with driving skills. We have a lady in our club, that participates in both auto- crossing and high speed events. She pretty much stays within the NCCC events. I'd wager she can out drive any one on this forum. She, and her husband have a GS and a Z06 (or two), along with a specially prepared C-6. The only advice I'd give you, is to find a driving school to sharpen your skills (assuming you need some honing)

Gender has zero meaning about too much for you. When I went to Spring Mountain for the Corvette driving school, we had 3 ladies in my class 2 of them had Z06, and they could drive the wheels off their cars. In fact one of my instructors was a lady & she could scare the daylights out of you with her driving skills. Get you want & drive what ever way make you feel comfortable. Only suggestion is if you are going to drive year round is to put the all season tires on the car in the fall.
