Is it ok to use tire dressing?
Hi,
I started using Black Magic Tire Gel on my C7 stock tires. It is supposed to last 8 weeks. Does it do any harm to the tires since it is petroleum based?
Thanks for your replies.

I use K-Y personal lubricant as it does not get used much any more in the house so I moved it out to the garage..........tires have a nice shine and the car seems to have more "get up" and "go"

Aerospace 303 is a UV protectant, relatively inexpensive, and provides a nice satin look. After using many of the so-called premium products, I've settled on 303 only, and it's also less fuss and muss.

Zaino tire stuff works great. Satin clean look rather than the gangsta shine. Also doesn't sling off and will last through a few washes and rain. Not sure tho, if you're using the stock bremo pads, may get overtaken with dust. ha

For your daily driver, it probably ok because your tires will wear out and need replaced before they dry out.
But for a car that sits most of its life in the garage and doesn't need new tires but once every several years, I wouldn't. It drys them out and basically bakes them when they are in the sun. Plus, if not done correctly , you will fling crap along the side of your car.

I also use aerospace 303, other products sometimes if not used frequently your tires turn a brownish color.

I use Meguiar's Insane tire shine. Its in a spray can, however I wouldn't suggest directly spraying on the tire. It works better when you spray it on an tire applicator, then use a another one to wipe off the excess. No fling on my mirrors. You can get it at your local auto parts store.
