MAG RIDE --- Yay or nay
For those who may have gone from a C7 equipped with MRC to a NON-MRC C7, is this something you miss and wish it had ? Is it that noticeable ? Test rode a non-mag ride vette, and rode very smooth and comfortably. I don't plan on track driving or anything super aggressive, just cruising the coast and enjoying the car. Is it worth the $$$ as it seems to be hit and miss as I continue to search for a good used C7. I'm sure the answers will be mixed !!! thankx !

LOL . . . no contest. MSRC is infinitely superior OEM, and it's over the top superior with a DSC Sport Controller installed. Anyone saying they don't miss it is likely just a straight-line cruiser who has no need for superior handling and chassis stability. However, even some of those recognize that MSRC delivers a more comfortable ride in the Tour setting.

Save your $$$$
Had it and now I don't have. Don't miss it, don't track car, don't need it. I do drive somewhat aggressively and love taking the on/off ramps at WAY higher than posted speed and never felt like I needed it. Car rides great on broken pavement. Saved bunch of bucks and don't have to worry about the Mag ride system problems and also installing an aftermarket product (???).
Just new shocks when I need them. Have almost 50K miles on the car and drives/handles like new.
Test drive a C7 with and without and you'll know for sure which is best for YOU!!!!

What mag ride system problems? There aren't any unless you're referring to rare reports of shock seep. However, even regular shocks seep as well, and no one even bothers to check those. There is nothing different about MSRC shock construction except the delivery of an electric current, and a different type of fluid inside. It's pretty much the same as any conventional shock.
Those leaks are caused by occasional hard impacts and even if it does happen, which is rare, they are still fully functional and will likely remain so for 100K or more miles.

As stated above, test drive a car with and without. Then decide. The money you save not getting it can be used for something you really want....or need.

I haven't had a C7 without Mag-Ride, however love the feel of it on the winding back roads and am sure I would miss it.

OP, BASED on your described needs, mag ride is not necessary....and you would not be getting good value out of the option. Save your $$ for something else..

I have a C6 with Mag Ride and on the softer setting, the ride is much harsher than the C5 and C7 that do not have Mag Ride. The handling on the C5 and the C7 is still very good in mountain driving. I value the smoother ride. I have seen other people on the forum express the view that Mag Ride makes the normal ride much harsher. I thing Mag Ride is really for people who are driving the car near the limit.

I did the reverse. I drove a Stingray WITHOUT MRC for 5 hours from the Chicago area to Detroit on the way to trade it in on a new Z06. That stretch of road in Michigan is really bad, and I felt like I was going to have the fillings rattled out of my teeth. I had a lengthy road trip planned to the East coast that Summer (in my new Z06), and I began second guessing doing so. After closing the deal, i turned around and drove immediately home. The return trip, (mind you in a Z06) WITH MRC was smooth sailing. Sincerely, the difference was NIGHT AND DAY. For daily driving, the suspension adjustments are subtle...but if you plan any road trips in your C7 (and you really should) I highly recommend getting it. Consider this, if I’m not mistaken Ferrari copied the magnetic ride suspension for their cars.

Never miss it (nor it's leaky shocks) on the street or highway.

4 years and 4 months later my mag shocks are not leaking, those c7 friends that I have that regret not getting mag were like this OP, no track, just cruisin around put put put. Now they regret not getting it. MOTORWEEK in 2014 named it the best bang for the buck.

the control of the car over bumpy, swooping dips, and broken pavement cannot be stressed enough. it's an amazing piece of tech. so much so that FERRARI paid for years to be able to use the tech in their car as did other high end car companies on their top models.. I had a C6 with it and my C7Z and i drove ones of both gens without it.. i would NEVER own a corvette without MSRC.. it's that good and noticeable to me
