For the Latin buffs, my new Corvette wall “art”
Bacon poses next to my failed attempt to repair some paint damage to a stage 2 spoiler.
So after about 2 months of trying to repaint the original spoiler on the corvette and burning through about $5-600 in auto paint suppies and spray guns...I learned that I have absolutely ZERO talent when it comes to painting car parts, lol. In the end, I bought a brand new spoiler on ebay, which left me to decide what to do with the old one.
I’m the type of guy that tries harder and harder the more he gets frustrated with something. 9 times out of 10, I’ll eventually perservere. This time, I got my butt kicked and I learned that sometimes it’s a lot less painful to leave it to the pros or to just buy a new part, lol. Rather than just tossing the old spoiler, I decided to get out some paint markers and throw a few ‘inspirational’ and other phrases to remind me of the experience. Figured I’d use a few latin phrases rather than just writing something like, “Think before you act next time, dumba**” That way, when we have guests over and they say, “why is that spoiler on your wall?”...I can come up with something, ‘Oh that? That’s all that’s left from my crash during the GT Le Mans crash!” Sounds better than, “Well, that’s my attempt to repair a spoiler I’d damaged w/ a heat gun while trying to install the stage 2 spoiler...didn’t go so well”.

I'd say you did pretty good, as I've spent a lot more than $500-$600 for wall art that looks no where near as good as that.

Well at least you tried. And you have a good attitude about it.

Most people will ask you why you have a boomerang on the wall.

I feel for you. I screwed up on something recently that should have been simple. I’ve no idea what has happened to rattle cans, but after the 4th unsuccessful try, I had the parts powder coated. It kicked my *** too!

So for those that want to know...here's the translations:
Vincit Qui Patitur: He Conquers Who Endures
Sic Vita Est: Thus is life -or- It is what it is
Dulcius ex Asperis: Sweeter after difficulties
Per Angusta ad Augusta: Through difficulties come greatness
Deo Volente: God Willing
...and my personal favorite!
Mulgere Hircum: Don't try to milk a male goat (Don't try to attempt the impossible)
Kilroy also made an appearance, but he's kinda tough to see.
Thanks for the kind words everyone
