I just replaced mine this week. Based on the "in service" date, the battery was 4 years and 4 months old for a Delco Silver, three year battery. I decided I pushed it long enough and replaced when it was in the Chevy dealer for an oil change. Hendrick did the work (and they didn't tear the carpet). I went with the gold, 42 month battery.

Since we're on the subject. I understand that the battery is DIN size H6. Optima's website search does not show a battery for my 2016. I don't think their database has kept up with marketing: OPTIMA® BATTERIES UNVEILS A NEW OPTIMA YELLOWTOP® WITH DIN FITMENT . Does anyone have the new H6 Optima Yellowtop? "It will be available for purchase in the spring of 2018 in DIN group sizes H6 and H7." I can't find it locally either.

Have to be careful. The top structure has to be able to hold the large power board on the positive terminal. It clips to the straight side battery with recessed terminals (trick is to find the clips!) There are other batteries with the same dimensions that fit the hole but don't have that specific shape. Just bought an Optima Yellow Top for my Street Rod but for the 2014 C7 bought a more conventional AGM battery that said it fit and it did. Mine was a Diehard but Autozone and Advanced Auto had the same one with their brand name. Batteries are made by a few major suppliers that put whoever's name on them.

I plan to do the same next time I'm in at the dealer (March 2019) assuming my factory battery lasts a full 5 years. Sometimes it seems like these fancier batteries are more trouble than they're worth so I'll be doing the same as you - ACDelco Gold.

^^
FWIW, AGM batteries are proven technology. Wife's BMW SUV come with one.

The Optima Yellow Top AGM battery in my Street Rod was just replaced after 10 years! It was working find BUT it's locked inside the car with electric doors and no handles. Was concerned that it might fail at a Car Show! When in the garage I have a way to power the driver's door solenoid latch but that requires another battery and crawling under etc.

In fairness, that Yellow Top is always on a maintenance charger. That does help battery life. The AMG battery I put in my C7 had 760 Cold Cracking Amps versus the OEM that had 565. Your car your choice.

I'm a fan of AGM as well. I rock crawl with my Subaru and getting some weird angles. Always worried about acid shift and offgassing of LA batteries. I'm a firm believer in AGM. CCA if fine to get it started, but I'm more concerned with higher reserve capacity. I couldn't imagine the work the battery does on a start/stop eco car.
