Default C7 flashed lights, no ticket on I-81

I would like to thank the guy driving the red C7 just north of Watertown on I81 for flashing his lights for me, you saved me a big ticket. Boy were they out in force today, I counted 15 speed traps in PA and NY. There was only one going down on Thursday.

Good to see some folks still flash lights. I was thinking about that the other day . . . don't remember how many decades it's been since someone flashed their lights to warn about radar.

This reminds me of a time on an early dark morning driving into work when I drove past a regular speed trap, I saw a patrol car staged and ready to write tickets...once I got about an eighth of a mile past the trap, I flashed my lights to the oncoming cars. I didn't realize it until he/she turned on their flashing lights, but one of the cars happened to be another patrol car (insert face palm here). They quickly turned off the flashing lights and thankfully kept heading the other way. I thought for sure he/she was going to turn around and write ME a ticket.

Actually I think I read about a case where a guy did get a ticket for that, but it was thrown out for that very reason (1st amendment).

This has been proven to be true in some states, and the ticket won't stand up.

Best to google the state your'e in to find out the state law. Strange, considering free speech is a federal right.

Good time to get a radar detector so you do not have to count on a good Samaritan flashing their lights.

Stopped using a radar detector over 30 years ago. Not all that necessary.

Occasionally I’ll see someone flash their lights to warn of an LEO running radar. Sure doesn’t happen as much as it used to.

It’s a next generation thing, people are going to Waze. Trends of the past are being forgotten because of new technology.

Waze is good to a point but certainly has its shortcomings.

Flashing a speed trap warning appears to be alive and well in New Hampshire. But then again, we are consistently behind the times...

Is that because you get it out of your system at the track where there are no speeding tickets? 😀

I agree with you, And I’m not saying my first statement is necessarily a good thing, it’s just the way things are now.
I truly miss the consideration people once had for one another in the not-too-distant past.
